15 Days of Devotion – Allowing Yourself to Dream | Day 9: Name It, Face It, and Conquer What Holds You Back
Reference Verse:
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind."
— 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)
Lesson:
Fear is the silent assassin of dreams. It masquerades as wisdom while whispering lies like:
“You’re not qualified.”
“What if you fail and everyone sees?”
“Your time has passed.”
But here’s the truth—fear is a deceiver. Remember David? He didn’t slay Goliath because he was fearless; he stepped forward because he trusted the One who went before him (1 Samuel 17). Your dream may feel beyond reach, but with God, nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37). He doesn’t call the qualified—He qualifies the called.
Application:
- Identify the Fear: Write down exactly what’s holding you back—be specific. Give it a name.
- Counter with Truth: Choose a Scripture that directly opposes that fear (e.g., “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – Philippians 4:13).
- Speak It Boldly: Every morning, declare God’s Word over your life. Let truth drown out the lies.
Prayer:
“Father, shatter every chain of fear that binds my heart and mind. Replace my anxiety with Your power, my doubt with Your love, and my confusion with a sound mind. I choose to walk in boldness, not because I’m strong, but because You are with me. I will not let fear rob me of the destiny You’ve prepared. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
