THE 7 ALTARS BUILT BY ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB | SAT 22-02-2025 | ELELOHE ISRAEL
Genesis 33:20 Jacob erected there an altar, and called it Elelohe-Israel.
● After reconciling with Esau, and returning to Canaan, Jacob settled in Shechem, where he purchased a plot of land. Here, he built an altar, naming it after his new acquired name, "El-Elohe-Israel," which translates to "God, the God of Israel."
● This altar shows how much Jacob appreciated God's help and care while he traveled. It reminds us that God was always with him, protecting him and providing for him.
● Jacob built this altar to commemorate three significant milestones in his life : his new name, Israel, bestowed by God; the conclusion of his difficult journey that began when he fled from his brother; and the onset of a new chapter in his life after overcoming numerous challenges.
