Mark 10 focuses on Jesus' journey toward Jerusalem, highlighting teachings on marriage, wealth, discipleship, and the coming kingdom.  We can subdivide the chapter thematically to better understand its lessons and applications:

I. Marriage and Divorce (Mark 10:1-12):

Summary: Pharisees question Jesus about divorce, referencing Mosaic Law. Jesus clarifies that God's intention from creation was for an unbreakable marriage bond, permitting divorce only in cases of sexual immorality.

Lessons:  God's original intent for marriage is lifelong commitment; divorce is contrary to God's design except in cases of adultery; marriage is sacred and reflects the relationship between Christ and the church.

Application:  Approach marriage with a commitment to lifelong fidelity; uphold the sanctity of marriage; seek reconciliation and healing in broken marriages; understand the implications of divorce according to biblical principles.

II. Children and Blessing (Mark 10:13-16):

Summary: People bring children to Jesus, and the disciples try to prevent them.  Jesus rebukes them and welcomes the children, blessing them and teaching that the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Lessons:  Children are precious in God's sight; welcoming children is essential to the kingdom of God; humility and childlike faith are essential for entering the kingdom.

Application:  Value and cherish children; create environments where children feel welcomed and loved; embrace childlike faith and humility in our relationship with God.

III. Wealth and Discipleship (Mark 10:17-31):

Summary: A rich young man asks Jesus how to inherit eternal life.  Jesus challenges him to sell his possessions and follow Him, but the man chooses wealth over discipleship. Jesus then teaches about the difficulty of the rich entering the kingdom and the rewards of following Him.

Lessons:  Wealth can be a hindrance to following Christ; true discipleship requires prioritizing God above material possessions; following Jesus leads to eternal rewards.

Application:  Examine our relationship with wealth; prioritize God's kingdom over material possessions; be generous and use our resources to serve God and others; trust in God's provision.

IV. Discipleship and Leadership (Mark 10:32-45):

Summary: Jesus predicts His suffering, death, and resurrection.  He teaches about true leadership, emphasizing humility and service rather than power and authority.  James and John request positions of honor, prompting Jesus to teach about greatness through servanthood.

Lessons:  True leadership involves humility and service; greatness is found in serving others; following Jesus requires a willingness to suffer for His sake.

Application:  Strive for humble leadership; prioritize serving others above personal ambition; be willing to endure suffering for the sake of righteousness; understand that true greatness is found in service to God and others.

V.  Blind Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52):

Summary:  Jesus heals Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, demonstrating His compassion and power.

Lessons:  God's compassion extends to all; faith leads to healing; persistence in prayer is rewarded.

Application:  Have compassion for those in need; persevere in faith and prayer; trust in God's power to heal.

*Mark 108 presents a powerful message about the kingdom of God, emphasizing the importance of faith, humility, service, and commitment to Christ.  The chapter's lessons call for a re-evaluation of our priorities, challenging us to prioritize God above all else and to live lives of selfless service.  The applications provide practical steps for living out these principles in our daily lives.
