PARENTING NUGGET - The Importance Of Making Memories With our Kids
Parents, be challenged by that teen boy Daniel was able to say no to the king's food. ( Daniel 1:8-9).
Parents, be challenged by these 3 Daniel's friends who were able to refuse to bow before the king's statue and ready to face the fire because of their faith (Daniel 3:17).
I was asking myself as I was meditating, ... What could have helped those teens to such a radical faith though they were not only teens but also far from their parents?
I believe; that is my belief, that their parents created unforgetable memories in their children about how Holy, Great, Powerful, Loving, Caring God is.
Those memories, I believe, shaped their identity, built their faith, forged their integrity, instilled the fear of God to the extent that even in captivity, they never departed from them.
Reading Myles Munroe on parenting, I highligted this powerful, inspiring and challenging quote ...
"Every day you spend with your kids you are creating
memories, so what kind of memories do you want them to have? How do you want your children to remember you in years to come?"
● Don’t expect your kids to value the Church and the community of faith if they don’t see you valuing them.
● Don’t expect your kids to trust God in the daily affairs of life if they don’t see you trusting Him daily.
● Don’t expect your kids to love the Lord if
they don’t see that you love Him.
● Don’t expect your kids to give the things of God top priority in their lives if they don’t see you
doing so.
● Don’t expect your kids to be faithful, honest, committed, consistent, serious, give the things of God top priority in their lives if they don’t see you
doing so.
THE CHALLENGE IS IN YOUR CAMP ... WHAT KIND OF MEMORY DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILDREN TO HAVE? HOW DO YOU WANT YOUR CHILDREN TO REMEMBER YOU WHEN YOU WILL NOT BE WITH THEM?
