KINGDOM BIBLE STUDY | WEEK OF CONTENTION DAY 2 | CONTEND TO STOP NEGATIVE PATTERNS | STUDY CASE : HANNAH | TUESDAY 13-06-2023

Let us start with reading the story of a woman called Hannah.

● As I am meditating over the text of 1 Samuel chapter 1, my attention goes to verse 7

Verse 7 … Year after year it was the same …

● This verse 7 shows that there was a yearly pattern in the life of Hannah.

Let us look at that pattern

Pattern 1 | PATTERN OF GOING UP TO THE HOUSE OF GOD.

● Year after year, she used to go up to Shiloh for the yearly celebration

● 1 Samuel 1:3  And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the LORD, were there.

Pattern 2 | PATTERN OF MOCKERY

● Year after year, she was provoked (afflicted, troubled, tormented, mocked, made unhappy, dispirited, frustrated, attacked, upset…)  by her rival

● 1 Samuel 1:6  And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb.

*Pattern 3 | PATTERN OF TEARS*

● Year after year, she was weeping

● 1 Samuel 1:7  And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

● To the extent that she was calling herself “woman of a sorrowful spirit

*Pattern 3 | PATTERN OF ANOREXIA*

● Year after year, not only was she crying, she was also not eating anytime she was provoked on the way to Shiloh.

● 1 Samuel 1:7  …  therefore, she wept, and did not eat.

- A certain year, things changed.

- That certain year, there was a difference.

- That certain year, things were no longer the way they used to be the previous years.

● I’m excited to let you know from the Lord who has sent me and commissioned me to do his work that in your life things will not be the way they used to be. But you need to

contend.

What did she do to enforce the change? What happened?

Watch this . . .

● In 1 Samuel 1:9,  the Bible says, … Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh !

I underline they (in plural…) which means that Hannah separated herself from the group and went for a 101 with the Lord

● From ERV, we read … After eating and drinking, Hannah quietly (silently, without making noise, without telling everybody, …) got up and went to pray to the Lord.

Hallelujah ! I like that. I like that. I like that. I like that.

● Every year, Hannah used to be mocked. That year, the mockery ceased.

● Every year, she used to cry and not to eat. That year, the tears ceased and she ate.

WHAT DID HANNAH DO TO MAKE THAT YEAR DIFFERENT FROM OTHER YEARS?

!!!!!!! SHE ROSE UP !!!!!!!

Brethren, Word Of Life, if, like Hannah, you want your year to be different, you must ARISE, PRAY AND CONTEND.

*What does it mean to arise?*

1- To Arise means you must stop being passive and start being aggressive

● For many years, Hannah was responding to her rival’s provocation by just crying and weeping. That is what I call being passive.

● Being passive is therefore believing that crying, shedding tears will solve your problem.

● Year after year, Hannah was crying but nothing changed. But that year, she decided to stop crying and start acting.

● Anyone under the sound of my voice, I declare and I decree over you. Enough oof crying. Enough of tears. You have cried enough. You have shed tears enough. Time has come for you to do what will make a difference in your life.

ARISE, PRAY AND CONTEND

● The majority of people who received miracles from God were never passive (a part from the dead).

● Most of the time, they did not sit back and wait for anything to happen or come to them. Rather, they were aggressive and violent in their faith to take their portion.

● Bartimaeus shouted and shouted the more to get his miracle despite people around discouraging him.

● The 4 friends of the paralytic took away the roof of the house to bring the paralytic to Jesus despite the obstacles.

● Jacob told the strange man who visited him … I will not let you go until you bless me

2- To Arise means you must stop tolerating, accepting and allowing again the things that you have been always tolerating, accepting and allowing.

● Year after year, Hannah was allowing her rival to make her cry. But that certain year, she decided to stop it.

● If you want things to change in your life you must contend.

● You must arise and CONTEND to BRING TO AN END that situation that has taken long.

● You must arise and CONTEND to stop the endless cycle of poverty, misery, rejection, depression and start a NEW CYCLE of blessing, prosperity, happiness, acceptance, joy.

HALLELUJAH !

● In Judges 5:7,  the Bible introduces to us a woman called Deborah.

We read … "The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until I, Deborah, arose, I arose a mother in Israel.

● Deborah is teaching us today a major lesson for our lives ... " UNTIL YOU ARISE, AND DECLARE ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, THE SIEGE WILL CONTINUE"

YOU MUST CONTEND

● Until you arise, that siege of the enemy over your life, your health, your finances, your children, your emotions, your feelings will continue ....

● I don’t know what has been always happening every year.

● I don’t know what always happens the same way in your life year after year. But I am here to tell you from the Lord that things will not be the same.

● Every year, she used to be mocked. That year, the mockery ceased. The mockery was silenced.

● I declare, very mockery whatsoever might be called will cease in the Name Of Jesus Christ

● Every year, she used to cry and not to eat. That year, the tears ceased and she ate.

● Contend for the tears to stop in your life in the Name Of Jesus Christ!

● Contend for the things that have been always tormenting and harassing you to STOP AND NEVER torment and harass you again.

● Contend for the endless cycle of poverty, misery, rejection, depression to STOP and a NEW CYCLE of blessing, prosperity, happiness, acceptance should start.

● Contend for the things that you have been always tolerating, accepting and allowing to STOP AND NEVER be tolerated, accepted and allowed again.

● Contend for stagnation to STOP and advancement START.

● Contend for  the issue that has taken long to come to an end.

● Contend for the things that have been always keeping you slave should STOP AND NEVER hold you again.

 PRAYER GUIDELINES

● PRAYER 1 | Some situations will not change in your life until you are angry enough to change them.

Declare and pray with Deuteronomy 1:6 Enough is enough. This years things must change.

Deuteronomy 1:6  "The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:

● PRAYER 2 | Living as a burden to others is a proof of immaturity. It's similar to living as a small child whose needs are dependent on parents.

Declare and pray with 1 Corinthians 13:11  Enough is enough. Something must change.

1 Corinthians 13:11  "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

Receive the grace to become a man/woman and take responsibility.

● PRAYER 3 | To live as a burden to others is living like this paralytic in the Bible that people carried and deposited at the door of the temple to beg.

Declare and Pray with  Matthew 9:6,  Enough is enough. Things must change.

Matthew 9:6  "But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house."

● PRAYER 4 | God's plan for you is not to live as a burden that others bear, but as the one who helps others carry their burdens.

Declare and Pray  with Galatians 6:2,  Enough is enough. Something must change.

Galatians 6:2  "Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ."

● PRAYER 5 |  When you live as a burden, the people who carry you will be tired of you and let you.

Declare and Pray  with  2 Thessalonians 3:8, Enough is enough. Something must change.

2 Thessalonians 3:8  "Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:"

IT IS YOUR TIME, IT IS YOUR SEASON, IT IS YOUR HOUR. CONTEND. NOBODY WILL DO IT FOR YOU.
