PASSOVER WEEK | TETELESTAI | THURSDAY 06-04-2023

John 19:28-30 …

Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.” A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips. When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Meaning of “It is finished” as TETELESTAI

● What is the meaning of TETELESTAI

● Lesson 1 | God is the God of Completion

● "It is finished" is the English translation of the Greek word TETELESTAI, which was the last thing Jesus' said before dying on the cross. TETELESTAI comes from the verb teleo, which means "to bring to an end, to complete, to accomplish."

●  Lesson 2 | God is the God of successful ending

● Anyone can begin a marathon. Only champions finish them. Everyone experiences adversity. Only those who stay strong to the finish are rewarded.

TETELESTAI is the word you would use when you climb to the peak of Mt. Kenya.

TETELESTAI is the word you would use when you turn in the final copy of your dissertation;

TETELESTAI is the word you would use when you make the final payment on your new car;

TETELESTAI is the word you use when you cross the finish line;

TETELESTAI proves that … Jesus did not die as a loser. Jesus died as a champion. Jesus died as a winner;

● Job 8:7 says, "Even if your beginning was small, your end will be very great." (NLV)

● Look at Job. After all that he went through. How did he finish?

● Job 42:10 The LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.

● Job 42:12  So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.

● I do not know how 2023 has started for you. I don’t know how your life has been so far … but I have a good news for you ... TETELESTAI … YOU WILL FINISH GREAT … YOU WILL FINISH GLORIOUSLY … YOU WILL FINISH STRONG …

● Lesson 3 | God is the God who still works and is still at work even until now.

● The word TETELESTAI means more than just "I survived." It means "I did exactly what I set out to do."

● But there's more here than the verb itself. TETELESTAI is in the perfect tense in Greek.

● That's significant because THE PERFECT TENSE SPEAKS OF AN ACTION WHICH HAS BEEN COMPLETED IN THE PAST WITH RESULTS CONTINUING INTO THE PRESENT.

TETELESTAI is different from the past tense which looks back to an event and says, "This happened." The perfect tense adds the idea that "This happened and it is still in effect today."

● When Jesus cried out "IT IS FINISHED" he meant "It was finished in the past, it is still finished in the present, and it will remain finished in the future."

● Hear me and hear me well … TETELESTAI means MY GOD IS STILL AT WORK UNTIL TODAY …

TETELESTAI means … He did it before. He will do it again. Hallelujah !!!

John 5:17 Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

● Lesson 4 | God is the God of victory

● Note one other fact. Jesus did not say, "I am finished," for that would imply that he died defeated and exhausted. Rather, he cried out "IT IS FINISHED," meaning "I successfully completed the work I came to do."

TETELESTAI, then, is the Savior's final cry of victory. When he died, he left no unfinished business behind. When he said, "It is finished," he was speaking the truth.

TETELESTAI, therefore means Satan failed. Satan failed to stop Jesus when he was a baby. Satan failed to make him fall into sin. Satan failed to kill him before his time.

TETELESTAI is your portion in the Name Of Jesus Christ !!!
