NO MORE EXCUSES ... DAY 5 .... THE MARTHA SYNDROME

WEDNESDAY 25 APRIL 2018
THE MARTHA SYNDROME

WORD OF THE DAY

Luke 10:40-41 But Martha was encumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said to her, Martha, Martha, you are careful and troubled about many things:

WHAT IS THE MARTHA SYNDROME?

Martha is Mary's sister. She has received Jesus in her house. But she had two major excuses like most of us : I'm busy and I don't have time. Those excuses are what I call the Martha syndrome.

Did you pray today? Did you meditate the Word? Did you go to church? Did you go to visit the sick? No. I'm busy and I don't have time.

If you use this excuse, let me tell you straight that it is a lie. The Muslims who unfold their carpet everywhere they might find themselves in, are they not busy? Yet they find time for their devotion.

You have 24 hours like anybody else. Check what you do with your time and ask yourself:

How much time do you spend on social media ( Facebook, WhatsApp ...)?

How much time do you spend on phone?

How much time do you spend for your breakfast? lunch? dinner? supper?

How much time do you spend chatting with your friends?

How much time do you spend in your office?

It has been and it is always confirmed that If something matters to you you will find time for it. If not you will find excuses.

If you find time for all the above, why can't you find time for God? The truth is that Facebook, WhatsApp, food and your friends matter to you the more.

If you can find time for all the things mentioned above and you cannot find time for the things of the Lord, no matter the excuses, it is a clear sign that the Lord doesn't matter to you at all.

CONCLUSION

Daniel was a prime minister in the kingdom of Babylon but it is reported about him that he was praying three times everyday (Daniel 6:10).

Jesus asked his disciples one question and is asking the same to you: "What, could ye not watch with me one hour?" ( Matthew 26:40)

My friend, in the 24 hours God gives to you everyday, could you not dedicate 1 hour with him?

IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST !
SO SHALL IT BE!
JESUS IS LORD!
