MIRACLE 29 Jesus Christ drives out an evil spirit in the synagogue

Reading : Mark 1:23-27

On the Sabbath day Jesus was in the synagogue at Capernaum teaching, and a man with “an unclean spirit” was there and started crying out uttering the above statements. In response to the statements Jesus rebuked the demon and commanded the demon to come out of the man.

From today's text, the Lord is teaching us .........lessons :

1st lesson : Jesus is teaching us that even demons believe and know Him.

From today's text, we read the statement of the demons was,

“What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” (Mark 1:24)

In the statements the demon revealed something of his beliefs and knowledge :

One, he knew of Jesus;

Two, he knew He was from Nazareth—there was no question of the historicity of Christ;

Three, he knew that the demons would ultimately be destroyed and that it would be accomplished by Christ;

Four, he knew that Jesus was “the Holy One of God,” meaning that he understood that Christ was Deity; and

Five, he knew something of the work of Christ as Messiah.

2nd lesson: Jesus is teaching us that He has authority and power to silence the devil and to cast him out.

It is written in Mark 1:25 "Jesus, his voice full of warning, said [rebuked], "Be quiet, and come out of him!" (Easy to read Version)

1) He rebuked the devil with his voice full of warning and authority

To rebuke refers to "the fact (the right) the holder of office in an organization, corporation, or government department has to condemn somebody or something officially";

To rebuke is "to express official disapproval or condemnation of somebody or something";

To rebuke is "to make a formal, often public statement of disapproval of somebody or something"...

2) He commanded the evil spirit to shut up and come out

· Shutting the devil up means not allowing him to speak, stopping his noise, commanding him to close his mouth or silencing his voice.

SILENCE THE DEVIL TODAY WITH THE WORD AND THE BLOOD

• The devil is a liar. Silence him with the proclamation of the Truth of the Word of God

John 8:44

• Satan is the Accuser of the brethren. Silence him with the power of the blood of Jesus Christ

PRAYER 1 : JESUS' BLOOD DRAWS MEN CLOSE TO GOD

It is written in Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus, ye who once were far off have been brought nigh by the blood of Christ.

It is written in Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore boldness, brethren, to enter into the Holiest by the blood of Jesus

In the name of Jesus Christ, I rebuke and I silence by the power of the blood of the lamb any evil power preventing men and women from drawing close to God.

PRAYER 2 : JESUS' BLOOD CLEANSES THE CONSCIENCE

It is written in Hebrews 9:14 "how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"

In the name of Jesus Christ and by the power of the blood of Jesus, I rebuke and I silence any voice of condemnation, accusation and guilt against me. I declare that I am forgiven and cleansed in Jesus Name!

PRAYER 3 : JESUS' BLOOD FREES FROM VANITY

It is written in 1 Peter 1:18-19 "For ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, such as silver and gold, from your vain way of living which ye received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot”

In the name of Jesus Christ and by the redemptive power of the blood of Jesus, I rebuke and I silence any voice keeping me in bondage, in addiction, (mention before the Lord your concern). I declare redemption today in Jesus Name!

PRAYER 4 : JESUS' BLOOD DELIVERS FROM THE PIT

It is written in Matthew 26:28 for this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

It is written in Luke 22:20 Likewise also He took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you.

It is written in Zechariah 9:11 As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant, I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

In Jesus' name and by the redemptive power of the blood of Jesus, I rebuke and I silence any ungodly, wicked and demonic covenant keeping men and women prisoners and slaves of the devil. I command total freedom today !

PRAYER 4 : JESUS' BLOOD HEALS

It is written in Isaiah 53:5 "He [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."

In Jesus' name and by the redemptive power of the blood of Jesus, I rebuke and I silence any trace of sickness in me (mention of you are sick) I command total healing in my spirit, soul and body today in Jesus' name!
