40 DAYS AT JESUS' FEET MIRACLE 25 "YOUR MOCKERS WILL BECOME YOUR ADMIRERS"

TUESDAY 10.10.2017
MIRACLE 25 : JESUS RESURRECTS JAIRUS' DAUGHTER
READINGS : Matthew 9:18-26; Mark 5:21-46; Luke 8:40-56

Today's miracle is about a man named Jairus, a leader of the local synagogue, who came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come home with him because his only daughter, who was twelve years old, was dying.

As Jesus went with him, he was surrounded by the crowds. But while he was still speaking to the woman healed from the blood issue, a messenger arrived from the home of Jairus. He told him, “Your daughter is dead. There’s no use troubling the Teacher now.”

But when Jesus heard what had happened, he ignored the report and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith, and she will be healed.”

When they arrived at the house, Jesus wouldn’t let anyone go in with him except Peter, John, James, and the little girl’s father and mother. The house was filled with people weeping and wailing, but he said, “Stop the weeping! She isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.”

But the crowd laughed at him because they all knew she had died. Then Jesus took her by the hand and said in a loud voice, “My child, get up!” And at that moment her life returned, and she immediately stood up! Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat. Her parents were overwhelmed, but Jesus insisted that they not tell anyone what had happened.

From this text, the Lord is teaching us the following lessons :

= LESSONS FROM JESUS =

1st lesson : Jesus teaches us that He is never late and his timing is always perfect!
Ecclesiastes 3:11 "He hath made every [thing] beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end."

2nd lesson : Jesus teaches us that sometimes before he grants us the miracle we expect from him, he will grant it to someone else as we continue to wait upon him.

Normally this case needed an urgent intervention and attention from Jesus Christ for two reasons :

a) The daughter was the only one of this man (Luke 8:42a)
b) She was at the point of death (Luke 8:42b)

Instead of dismissing the crowd so that he can rush and solve the issue, Jesus walks surrounded with people who throng him everywhere. Not only that, the woman with blood issue shows up to stop Jesus' move. After getting healed, instead of rushing, Jesus takes again time to talk to her until a news came from home that “Your daughter is dead. There’s no use troubling the Teacher now.”

3rd lesson : Jesus teaches us that sometimes, before things get better, they will get worse.

They called Christ to come to heal the daughter. In the course of time, the situation got worse and the daughter died.

4th lesson : Jesus teaches us how to quickly silence any discouraging and negative report and to quickly replace it with encouraging and positive report by faith.

In this text, Jesus silences negative report thrice :

1. When from the house someone reports that the daughter is dead, Jesus immediatly silences and ignores the report and replace it with words of faith.
Mark 5:36 "Jesus, giving no attention to their words, said to the ruler of the Synagogue, Have no fear, only have faith."

2. When he reaches the house and sees people crying, Jesus silences the mourners and commands them to keep quiet.
Mark 5:39 "And when he had gone in, he said to them, Why are you making such a noise and weeping? The child is not dead, but sleeping."

3. When the mourners start laughing at him and mocking him because of his faith, Jesus put them all out and keep only men and women of faith around him in the room (Mark 5:40)

5th lesson : Jesus teaches us that he has power not only to bring back the dead to life but also to turn the mockers into admirers.
It is written in Mark 5:41-42 "And taking her by the hand, Jesus said to her, Talitha cumi, which is, My child, I say to you, Get up. 42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
