IT IS WRITTEN in Luke 21:36

"Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."

KEY STATEMENT

It is not enough to pray. It takes watchfulness and prayerfulness to secure your escape in the days of vengeance. When Jesus says ".. escape all these things...", what are "these things?"

ESCAPE ALL THESE THINGS . . .

1) These things are the great events which must precede Jesus' coming.

(1) Political commotion.

(2) Physical changes.

(3) Social distresses.

2) These things are the persecution that must precede Jesus' coming.

(1) Its severity.

(2) Its advantage.

(3) Support under it.

(4) Assurance and counsel in view of it.

3) These things are Jerusalem’s destruction that must precede his coming.

(1) This destruction was then near.

(2) This destruction terrible.

WATCH AND PRAY ALWAYS TO ESCAPE THESE THINGS . . .

What does it mean to watch?

1) Watch means to take heed that the heart is not overcharged

Luke 21:34-36 "And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

2) Watch means to take heed that the heart never forgets the Word of the Lord and his doings

Acts 20:31 Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.

3) Watch means to not sleep, to not to not be lazy but to be spiritually alert

1 Thessalonians 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

4) Watch means to not be lazy and idle but to do diligently the work of the Lord in his field.

2 Timothy 4:5 But watch you in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of your ministry.

5) Watch means to be continuously and tirelessly in prayers (supplication, praise, thanksgiving, intercession,...).

Colossians 4:2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;

6) Watch means to stand fast in the faith

1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch you, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

BENEFITS OF WATCHING AND PRAYING . . .

In the chapter 21 of Luke, Jesus is calling the days preceding his second coming "days of vengeance"

Luke 21:22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

According to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, no prayer will cause those things not to happen in the world but the force of prayer will cause his disciples, sons and servants not to be victim of these things.

Luke 21:36 "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."

By watching and praying tirelessly in the midst of the days of vengeance, Jesus assures that :

A) His disciples will escape and not be victim of it

Luke 21:36 "Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man."

B) It shall turn to them for a testimony

Luke 21:13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.

C) Not an hair of their head will perish

Luke 21:18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.

" I DECLARE I AM REDEEMED. I DECLARE I AM A COVENANT SON OF GOD. I DECLARE I WILL NOT BE VICTIM OF THE DAYS OF VENGEANCE IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!

" I DECLARE THE LORD MY GOD WILL GRANT ME THE GRACE TO KEEP MY HEART FROM BEING OVERCHARGED WITH SURFEITING, DRUNKENESS AND CARES OF LIFE IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!

" I DECLARE VOID AND OF NO EFFECT THE ARROWS OF THE ENEMY CAUSING ME TO BE LAZY AND TO SLEEP. I DECLARE I WILL BE ALERT IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!

" I DECLARE MY PRAYER LIFE IS COMING ALIVE. I DECLARE I AM AWAKE TO PRAY AND FAST. I DECLARE I AM AWAKE TO READ THE BIBLE IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!

" I DECLARE ESCAPE IS MY BIRTHRIGHT IN JESUS CHRIST. I WILL ESCAPE FROM THE HORRORS OF THE HOUR. I WILL ESCAPE FROM THE WICKEDNESS OF THE WICKED IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!
