⏩ COVENANT OF MARVELS ⏪ DAY 20 "ENGAGING THE POWER OF COMPASSION AND ANOINTING TO SAVE OUR DYING WORLD"

SCRIPTURE

Luke 10:30 And Jesus answering said, A certain [man] went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded [him], and departed, leaving [him] half dead.

Luke 10:31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

Luke 10:32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked [on him], and passed by on the other side.

Luke 10:33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion [on him],

Luke 10:34 And went to [him], and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

KEY STATEMENT

We live today in a society where people are getting so much used to see misery that we no longer are sensitive.

We live today in a society where what my neighbour goes through is not my business knowing that I have also my own problem.

We live today in a society where being harsh or rude toward others is no longer considered as hurting but rather a way of protecting and defending my rights.

We live today in a I-don't-care society where people are so selfish and self-centered that we become senseless, heartless, insensitive and indifferent to the pain of those who are around us.

The picture of the society we are in is clearly described by the Lord Jesus in Luke 10:30-34.

In that text, Jesus draws a picture of a man who was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho. Along the way he was assaulted by thieves which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

By chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, and went to [him], and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

3 WAYS TO ENGAGE THE POWER OF COMPASSION AND ANOINTING TO SAVE OUR DYING WORLD

1) FEELING SORRY IS NOT WHAT CAN MAKE THE DIFFERENCE AND SAVE OUR DYING WORLD. ONLY BEING COMPASSIONATE WILL DO SOMETHING.

Reading carefully this text, we will notice that all of those three people saw this man. The first saw and passed by. The second came and looked and passed by. But the third saw and had compassion and did something to address his issue.

As we can consider from this text, everybody can see and feel sorry but it will take somebody who will see and be compassionate to make the difference.

In other words, if after you see the misery around you the only thing is feeling sorry you are not making and will never make any difference. But if after you see, you feel compassion in your heart and feel compelled to do something to change the situation, then you can be listed among the world-changers.

2) YOU CAN FEEL SORRY AND DO NOTHING BUT YOU CANNOT HAVE COMPASSION AND NOT BE MOVED TO DO SOMETHING.

- When the Lord looked upon the oppression of the children of Israel, the Bible says in Exodus 2:25, "God had respect unto [them].", meaning that he was concerned about them. But in Exodus 3:8, God says, "I have come to rescue them  ..."

- When in Matthew 14:14 Jesus saw a great multitude, the Bible says, "He was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick."

- When Jesus saw the leper in Mark 1:41, the Bible says that "Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth [his] hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean."

- Before Jesus multiplies the 7 breads and fishes to feed the 4ooo men, He says in Mark 8:2 "I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat"

- When Jesus saw the widow mourning for her only dead son, the Bible says in Luke 7:13, "When the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not." After that, he brought back the son to life and gave him back to his mother

3) YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE AN ORDAINED PRIEST OR AN ORDAINED LEVITE TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE AND SAVE THIS DYING WORLD. JUST DO WHAT THE ANOINTING ALLOWS YOU TO DO.

In Ecclesiastes 9:10, the Bible says, "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do [it] with thy might; for [there is] no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."

The Levite and the priest were ordained and anointed to do the work in the sanctuary but they failed to apply the anointing to impact the society because their heart was not right to feel the need of others.

The Samaritan was not ordained nor anointed to do any work in the sanctuary but he had just oil and wine which he poured on the wounds of this man to heal him.

In Luke 10:34, the Bible says, "And went to [him], and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him."

What is the Anointing For? In Acts 10:38, the Bible says, "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him."

In this text, the Bible says, "... God anointed Jesus of Nazareth ...who went about doing". From this, it is clear that the anointing is not for title but for “doing”. The anointing is to enable you fulfil God’s eternal purpose for your life.

Today, one question is asked to you, what are you doing with the anointing?

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS AND PRAYERS

NOTE 1 | COMPASSION IS NEVER ABOUT HOW YOU FEEL BUT WHAT YOU SEE AND HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT WHAT YOU SEE.
PRAYER 1 | FATHER, I PRAY TODAY THAT YOU GIVE ME YOUR EYES SO THAT I MAY SEE THE WORLD AROUND ME THE WAY YOU SEE IT IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!

NOTE 2 | COMPASSION IS A LIVING FORCE MEANT TO TERMINATE PEOPLE'S TEAR

PRAYER 2 | FATHER, FILL ME WITH YOUR COMPASSION SO THAT I WILL BE USEFUL IN YOUR HANDS TO TERMINATE OTHERS' TEAR BY PUTTING JOY IN THEIR HEART AND A SMILE ON THEIR FACES
Exodus 3:8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
Mark 1:41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth [his] hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

NOTE 4 | ANOINTING IS A SPIRITUAL FORCE THAT FINDS  FULL EXPRESSION THROUGH THE POWER OF COMPASSION IN THE HEART.
PRAYER 4 | FATHER, BAPTIZE ME WITH COMPASSION IN MY HEART AND ANOINT ME AFRESH SO THAT LIKE JESUS CHRIST MY LIFE SHOULD BE USEFUL TO IMPACT AND SAVE THIS DYING WORLD FOR THE GLORY OF YOUR NAME.
Acts 10:38 You know that God anointed Jesus from Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Jesus went everywhere and did good things, such as healing everyone who was under the devil’s power. Jesus did these things because God was with him.
