𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗛’𝗦 𝗪𝗘𝗘𝗞 𝗗𝗔𝗜𝗟𝗬 𝗗𝗘𝗩𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 |  𝗗𝗔𝗬 12 𝗡𝗢𝗢𝗡 𝗣𝗥𝗔𝗬𝗘𝗥𝗦

Asenath faced this same choice. She was born into the house of Potiphera, a priest of On, a worshiper of Ra. By natural birth, she belonged to a family that served false gods. But when she encountered the God of Israel, she had to make a decision. Would she remain tied to her father's idols, or would she leave everything to join Joseph and the covenant people?

Asenath chose her spiritual family over her natural one.

She left her father's house. She left his gods. She left his traditions. She chose to be identified with Joseph, with Abraham, with the God of Israel. And because of that choice, she became a mother in Israel, the ancestor of two tribes, and a part of the lineage of the Messiah.

You also have a choice.

You may have been born into a family that served idols—whether literal idols of wood and stone, or the idols of money, power, fame, or self. You may have inherited patterns of sin, brokenness, and shame. But today, you can choose your spiritual family. You can choose to be identified with Christ. You can choose to be counted among the household of faith.

But choosing your spiritual family also means breaking ties with what held your ancestors. It means cutting soul ties to idolatry. It means separating from unclean things. It means coming out from among them and being separate, as God commands.

Let us pray …
