We open our hands to receive the very blessings we declared. We position ourselves to be overtaken by the goodness of God. We prepare our hearts to accept the unearned, undeserved, and unexpected favor that only grace can bring.
Ephraim received the firstborn blessing though he was the younger. He did not earn it. He did not deserve it by birth order. He simply received it because God, in His sovereign grace, chose to give it.
This is our portion today. There are blessings that do not come to us by natural inheritance, by hard work, or by human qualification. They come to us by divine selection. They come to us because God has chosen us—not because of who we are, but because of who He is.
But to receive, we must believe we belong.
Let us pray …
