The story of Ephraim and Manasseh is a perfect picture of this truth. Manasseh was the firstborn. By all human custom and law, he should have received the greater blessing. But when Jacob blessed Joseph's sons, he crossed his hands and placed his right hand on Ephraim, the younger, and his left hand on Manasseh, the firstborn.

Genesis 48:14 KJV

"And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn."

This was not a mistake. This was divine reversal. God was showing us that His ways are not our ways. He chooses whom He will bless. He elevates whom He will elevate. He takes the overlooked, the underestimated, the one who should have been last, and sets them among the first.

Ephraim, the son of an Egyptian woman, the son of a former pagan, became the heir to the firstborn blessing.

This is the God we serve. He specializes in reversals. He turns shame into honor. He turns confusion into joy. He turns outsiders into insiders. He turns the last into first.
