7-Day Devotional: “Who Is a Stranger?” | Day 4: Beware Spiritual Slumber
Scripture:
1 Kings 3:20 (NKJV) – “And she arose at night and took my son from beside me, while your maidservant slept…”
The enemy strikes when we’re most vulnerable—when we’re spiritually asleep. The handmaiden wasn’t negligent in love; she was exhausted from childbirth. But in her moment of rest, the stranger acted. Similarly, Satan sows tares “while men slept” (Matthew 13:25).
Spiritual slumber isn’t just about missing prayer—it’s about assuming safety, lowering your guard, or neglecting your covenant with God. When you stop seeking God’s voice daily, you become susceptible to manipulation, compromise, and theft—of joy, purpose, even destiny.
Application:
Evaluate your spiritual rhythms. Are you coasting on past victories? Rekindle your prayer life. Stay alert, especially in seasons of transition or fatigue.
Closing Prayer:
Lord, wake me from every form of spiritual slumber. Let my vigilance be my shield. Station Your angels around me when I am weak. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
