3 STEPS TO TURN YOUR DREAM INTO REALITY
Introduction:
93% of those who set new year goals do not fulfill them, with 30% being broken in the first week.
Question 1: Do you have goals for your life? If you do, what are they?
Setting goals means;
- Deciding what you want.
- Plan how to get it.
- Pursue/Go for it
Part 1: What do I do, to make my dream come true?
Step 1: Own. Ph 3:13-14
Paul says I press towards the goal...not I am pushed.
Statement:
Your dream is your pregnancy, you carry it by yourself.
• When an egg is broken by an external force, life ends. When it's broken by na internal force, life begins. Great things begin from inside.
• When you own a dream, it becomes fulfilling and exciting for you
• When you own a dream, you own the process and the product.
The case of Jonathan
- Jonathan had a dream, to be next to David once he became King. 1 Sam 23:17
- Jonathan never owned the dream. He went back to the palace as David went to the woods. 1 Sam 23:18
- Jonathan died with Saul in battle . 1 Sam 31:6
How to make a dream come true;
1. Passion
- Love, fevor, preoccupation and eagerness. This put together, when you have a passion for something means you have a love for it
- Love for what you do, is a key ingredient to achieving great success
2. Vision
- See the benefit short and long term behind it.
- Nothing will benefit you if you don't see its benefit.
3. Self-motivation
- Do not depend on, or expect others to inspire you regarding your dreams. 1 Sam 30:6
- You are the only one who can value that which you pursue.
Step 2: One thing. Ph 3:13
Success is narrowing down and settling on one thing. Not being scattered all over.
This means;
- Be focused, avoid distractions, which are side attractions seeking your attention to rob you of your destination.
- Become a specialist - develop clarity on what you want to do, be, achieve and own in life.
One of the great secrets to living a successful life is to be. Specialist not a generalist
This is the ability to give all your attention, unequivocally to a specific purpose.
The case of Michael Phelps
• Although he was diagnosed with ADHD, it was noticed that he could spend hours in the pool.
• This was chanelled to make him a nationally ranked swimmer.
• He focused on a single discipline, over many hours, and became an unbeatable world champion.
Step 3: Observe
Statement:
What you keep looking at the most will influence your conversation and your faith. Gen 13:14-17
What you need:
• A vision board;
Put pictures of your goals and dreams on your walls, in your secret place e.t.c.
• A Journal Habb 2:2
- Write your dream down
