CHAPTER I- WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT CURSES
Information 1- A curse is a “repeated pattern” of woes and calamities in the life of its victim. Matthew 22:25-27
Information 2 - A curse persists as long as its root cause has not been dealt with. Proverbs 26:2
Information 3 - A curse is the opposite of blessings.
Information 4 - A curse is an evil utterance or wish against that person, causing mischief or injury to come upon that person.
CHAPTER 2 | TYPES OF CURSES
- The curse of the law. (Galatians 3:13 : The curse of disobeying the law. Christ carried it on the cross)
- The hidden curses
- The generational curses
- The self inflicted curses
- The parental curses
CHAPTER 3 | How do I know that there is a hidden curse?
Just like you can't define fire or electricity by themselves, you may also be unable to define curses but for the results of each.
Case 1 - Hiel (premature death, serial death, untimely death,...)
Case 2 - Jonah
Unending storm Jonah 4:4
- Struggling and Making effort to move forward but failing, stagnating, going round in circle, inability to master the storm and overcome it and inability to reach your destination. Jonah 1 : 13
- Losing precious things. Jonah 1:5
What was the root cause behind that curse?
- It was as a result of disobedience and rebellion.
- This man was running away from the direction of God.
Case 3 - David 2 Sam 21
- David experienced 3 years of an unexplainable famine. Heaven was closed. There was no rain. There was an unexplainable financial strain.
- Through prayer, he discovered there was a hidden curse of breaking vows/ breaking covenant with the Gibeonites.
Case 4 - Acan
- Serial unexplainable defeat
- Death of innocent people.
Case 5 - Rachel
- Jacob cursed Rachel without the knowledge that she was the one who had custody of her father's figurines.
Case 6 - Gehazi
He took the money he was not supposed to take. He inherited leprosy. It affected his children after him.
Case 7 - Coniah. Jeremiah 22:28-30
● Observation 1 | The earth was told to bear the record.
● Observation 2 | Coniah and his family will be an outcast. They will be cast out into an unknown Land.
● Observation 3 | Coniah was cursed to be childless because of the decree issued against him.
● Observation 4 | The decree on Coniah reduced him to poverty.
CHAPTER 4 | DOES GOD PUNISH THE CHILDREN FOR THE SINS OF THEIR PARENTS? Ex 20:5, NUM 14:18, Deut 5:9,Acts 7:51
● The children who do the same things that their fathers did will get the same thing that their fathers got.
● Those that do things differently, they will not reap what their fathers did. Deut 24:16, 2 Kings 14:6, Jer 31:29-30, Ez 18:20
● No one is permitted to pay for the sins or iniquity of the previous generation.
● Each one will pay for own sin.
CHAPTER 5 | HOW TO BREAK THE GENERATIONAL CURSE?
ALTAR OF THE CROSS Gal 3:13
- This is the main altar.
- The cross is the altar built upon the sacrificial death and the precious blood of Christ.
- On the cross, the curse of the law was broken. Hallelujah!
ALTAR OF THE CHURCH. ZECHARIAH 14:17
- The families of the earth that will not go to Jerusalem (place of worship), rain will not fall on them.
- This means one who does not go to the altar of the Church, curse is placed upon him.
- In Church, the servant of God has been appointed by God to bless you.
ALTAR OF THE COVENANT
- This is your personal altar of your personal covenants with God.
WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF COVENANTS?
1. COVENANT OF SERVICE EXODUS 23:25
- This has to be covenantal not out of convenience
2. COVENANT OF OBEDIENCE. DEUT 11:26-28
3. COVENANT OF LOVE OF GOD : GIVING, PRAYER, FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD. DEUT 30:16, DEUT 7:9
- You prove love of God by giving, fellowshipping and giving to the needy.
- When these 3 altars are in place, there is no room for curse.
