3 DAYS PARENTING EMPOWERMENT | 6TH - 8TH APRIL 2022 | HOW TO LIVE TO LEAVE A LEGACY TO OUR CHILDREN

3 DAYS PARENTING EMPOWERMENT | WEDNESDAY 06-04-2022 | PART 1

HOW TO LIVE TO LEAVE A LEGACY TO OUR CHILDREN

PART 1 | What will be your legacy?

Prov 13:22, "A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.”

CHAPTER 1 | WHAT IS A LEGACY?

• A "legacy" is defined as "a gift...left to someone...," and "anything handed down from the past, as from an ancestor." Prov 13:22

• When we live, we should not only think of the next generation but many generations after us. 2 Tim 1:5, 3:15

• A real parent, lives to leave a legacy.

CHAPTER 2 | WHAT WILL BE YOUR LEGACY? CURSES OR BLESSINGS?

2 Kings 4:1 ... Now cried a certain woman ...

● • According to 2 Kings 4:1, when this man of God died, he left a legacy of:

i. A crying woman.

ii. Unpaid debts

iii. A poor woman

iv. Slave children

• Parents should leave generational blessings, faith and not curses to their children.

Question: What will be your legacy?

● A legacy of blessings or of curses? Of assets or of liabilities? Of an united family or of a scattered family? Of bank overflow or of debt? Of unsolved battles or of outstanding victories? Of a life the next generation will be proud of or ashamed of?

CHAPTER 3 | 4 WAYS PARENTS LEAVE A LEGACY

IST WAY. HOW YOU CARRY YOUR LIFE "NOW" AS A PARENT IS A LEGACY  TO YOUR CHILDREN. 2 Kings 4:1

1. Parents are farmers.  Children are fields :

• Everything you do is a seed to your children.

• What you sow in your children is what you will reap.

2. Parents with character issues cannot be effective. Exo 2:12, 14, Acts 7:26-29*

• Parents should be the role model of their children.

3. Parents must be the model their children would follow ...

• Children will follow your example not your advices, your walk not your talk.

4. As a parent, can you  tell your children like Paul, "Be followers of me"? 1 Cor 11:1, 4:15, 16

2ND WAY. THE DOORS YOU OPEN TODAY AS PARENTS WILL BE THE LEGACY TO YOUR CHILDREN TOMORROW

• The man of God told the woman in 2 Kings 4:4 "Shut the door on you and on your children"

What does it mean?

MEANING 1. Parents are gates.

• Because of the doors the man had opened when he was alive, the creditor came to pick the children. Children became victims]

MEANING 2 |Parents, consciously or unconsciously open doors to the enemy which give him a footstool to attack, strike, destroy, steal and kill the next generation.

● 3RD WAY |THROUGH COVENANTS

• Lot's foolish words of covenant with the people of the land opened a door of curse to his daughters.

Gen 19:8 ... Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out to you, and do you to them as is good in your eyes:

• According to the statement above, Lot is placing a curse on his daughters. It is like saying, "I will bring them out to you so you can abuse them as it shall please you"

• It is clear by his declaration that Lot as a father did not have any plan for his daughters. As a result of the covenant Lot made, his daughters never got married. They became pregnant from their father.

• As parents, what is your plan for your children? Jer 29:11, 1 Timothy 1:18

4TH WAY | THROUGH CARELESS WORDS OF CURSES

• Israel's fathers opened a door through self-curses that affected many generations after them. Math 27:25

• They said that the responsibility of killing Jesus to be upon them and their children.

• Self imposed curses are those negative words we speak out discouragement, doubt or unbelief or anger. They are curses we bring unto ourselves both by our words and by our attitudes

• Esau despised the birthright and denied generations after him the opportunity to be called God of Esau.

CHAPTER 4 | SHUT THE DOOR

WAY 1: THROUGH THE POWER OF POSITIVE WORDS. Prov 18:21

• Shut the door by repenting, revoking, replacing and remembering the covenant. Acts 18:6, Gal 3:13

WAY 2: THROUGH THE BLOOD

• Take note:

1. Blood speaks. Heb 12:24

• The blood of Jesus speaks healing, marriage stability, peace

2. Blood transfers generational characters.1 Pet 1:18-19

• You have the DNA of your parents yes, but because of the blood of Jesus, you are not permitted to replicate the failures of your parents.

3. Blood can pursue and even kill the innocent. Deut 19:6

• Raise an altar by the blood of Jesus and declare the blood that is killing and destroying your family will not pursue your children

Prophetic Declarations:

1. According to 3 John 2, BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, I revoke chronic sickness and disease

2. According to Prov 5:10, BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, I revoke the curse of marital instability. I release the blessing of marital stability

3. According to Isa 26:3, BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, I revoke the curse of bitterness, anger, emotional breakdown. I release the blessing of rest

4. According to Gen 1:26-28, BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST,  I revoke the curse of bareness. I release the blessing of fertility, productivity and fecundity.

5. According to Jos 1:8, BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST, I revoke the curse of stagnation. I release the blessing of success, advancement and settlement.

THURSDAY 07-04-2022 | HOW TO LIVE TO LEAVE A LEGACY TO OUR CHILDREN?  | DON’T BREAK THE WALL

CHAPTER 1 | INTRODUCTION AND REMINDER

We defined  what legacy was all about

We saw the 4 ways parents leave a legacy of curses to the next generation

We saw how parents can shut the door to preserve the legacy

CHAPTER 2 | NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, IF YOU BREAK THE WALL, THE SNAKE WILL BITE YOU

From 2 Kings 4:1 We learn  that the husband was a :-

- Servant of God

- God fearing

- Servant and a disciple of Elisha (a son of the prophet)

How is it that a man who served God his whole life left such a catastrophic kind of legacy? How is it that he died and left his children slave?

WHAT WENT WRONG IN HIS LIFE?

God revealed to me

● The devil is not respecter of your position in church. He is respecter of your position in Christ.

● The devil is not respecter of the length of your prayers. He is respecter of the depth of your character in Christ.

● The devil is not respecter of your title or christian status. He is respecter of your character in Christ.

The devil is not respecter of your relationship with the spiritual authority. He is respecter of your submission to the spiritual authority.

WHAT IS THE DEVIL RESPECTER ABOUT?

The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 10:8 "...whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him."

What does whoso means?

- Whoso means whosoever.

(It doesn’t matter who you are.)

According to this Scripture, no matter who you are, if you break the hedge, the serpent will bite you.

● The snake in Scripture refers to the devil and his deceptions (Revelation 12:9).

● Wall in Scriptures refer to protection, security, boundary, privacy.

Parents are a wall to their children.

●  When the wall is broken ...

-  The house is opened to the activities of the snake who is the devil.

-  The house is exposed, unprotected, unsecured, without boundary, without privacy.

●  CASE 1 |  ADAM AND EVE BROKE THE WALL BY DISOBEYING GOD’S INSTRUCTION

What happened? By crossing the boundary, they were bitten by the snake.

They lost the sweetness of the relationship with one another and started to accuse one another.

Their child Cain became wild and murdered his brother.

● CASE 2 | JOB BROKE THE WALL BY LACKING TRUST IN GOD

- There was no way the devil could touch him and his children because there was a wall.

Job 1:10

Job broke the wall by mistrust and his children died. His livestock gone. His wealth gone.

Job 3:25-26

Listen to his declaration … I was not in safety … I did not have rest … I was not quiet …

What he feared the most happened to him

Job was highly protected by God. Job was God fearing. Job was a man of integrity. Job was a man who was living far away from evil.

WHAT WAS WRONG WITH JOB?

Job was  man who was ...

- Struggling  with fear,

- Not trusting God fully,

- A man of worry,  anxious,   and restlessness,

- A man with a negative confession.

The Bible says in Isaiah 26:3  You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You; because he trusts in You.

CASE 3 | HIEL BROKE THE WALL BY BUILDING ON THE FUNDATION OF CURSES WITHOUT THE GUIDANCE AND THE INSTRUCTION OF THE LORD - 1Ki 16:34

There was a hidden curse over the city of Jericho. He did not know that. When he started building, his firstborn died. When he finished building, his last born died.

All happened according to the word of the man of God Joshua.

The consequences : Premature death, Serial death, Untimely death,...

CHAPTER 3 | CURSES AND BLESSINGS ARE YOUR CHOICE. NOT A FATE

Parents, our children are affected by our choices.

Biblical case | Naomi and Elimelech

- They moved without inquiring from the Lord.

- The results :  Elimelech and his two sons died.

● Deut 30:3 ... I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may live:

Blessings and curses are your choice

● What does it mean?

Meaning 1: - Curses or blessings are provoked by man's choice.

●  Meaning 2 : - You can decide whether to be blessed or to be cursed.

●  Meaning 3 : - Blessings and curses are not imposed to anyone. They are a pure result of man's personal responsibility to subscribe to one or another.

●  Meaning 4 : -  Generational curses can be broken by man's choice to subscribe to blessings.

●  HOW DO YOU BUILD WALLS?

- We build walls through  making personal choices to enter in a covenant with God.

3 Walls to build to secure  blessings over your children

CHAPTER 4 | THE WALL OF OBEDIENCE

- We break the wall through sin and disobedience.

Example: Adam and Eve broke the wall. They were bitten by the devil. It affected their children. Cain became a murderer.

● SUBPART 1 : What is obedience?

Obedience is choosing to do the will of the King.

Matthew 7:21

● Obedience is a choice to place the Will of the King above your own will. Matthew 26:42

● Obedience is the choice of wisdom.  Disobedience is foolishness. Matthew 7:24

● Obedience is the gateway to blessing. Disobedience is the gateway to curses. Deuteronomy 11:26-28

MEANING 1  : When you choose to obey, you choose to be blessed. When you choose to disobey, you choose to be cursed.

●  MEANING 2  : Every instruction from God to you is not and will never be to the advantage of God. It is to your own advantage.

MEANING  3 :  Obedience  is to your own advantage.  Disobedience is to your own disadvantage.

You cannot obey God and be cursed. Impossible

SUBPART 2: STUDY CASE AND ILLUSTRATION | TITHING, GATEWAY TO BLESSING

God says ...

●  Malachi 3:10-12

*The benefits of tithing are not directed to God but to you *

- I will open to you the windows of heaven.

- I will pour out to you the blessing.

- I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes.

- He shall not destroy the fruits of your ground.

- All nations shall call you blessed.

- You will be a delightful land

All those blessings are not for the church. But for you if you choose to obey.

If you choose to disobey, you choose to be cursed.

 Malachi 3:8-9

CHAPTER 5 | THE WALL OF THE LOVE OF GOD

● Deuteronomy 30:16

God says ... Love your God ... and the Lord your God shall bless you!!!

● 2- Your love for God entitles you to not only blessings but also generational blessings. Hallelujah !

●  Deuteronomy 7:9

- If you love God you will secure blessing to 1000 generations after you.

- Your love for God is the cure to generational curses and the gateway to generational blessings.

● Dear parent, I pray that your legacy to the next generation will be a legacy of the love of God.

PART 3 | HOW DO YOU KNOW YOU LOVE GOD?

● 1- If you love God, you will find time for God. Daniel 6:10

● 2- If you love God, you will love what he loves and hate what he hates. Psalms 119:163 -165

● 3- If you love God, you will love others. 1 John 4:20

● 4- If you love God, you will give to God and to others. 1 John 3:18

● 5- If you love God, you will keep and obey his Word. Psalms 119:140, 1 John 5:3

PART 4 | WHAT ARE THE BLESSINGS OF LOVING GOD?

Blessing 1:  God will keep his covenant toward you until 1000 generations after you. Deuteronomy 7:9

Blessing 2: Jesus will manifest himself to you personally and reveal to you hidden things. John 14:21

Blessing 3:  What eyes have not seen, what ears have not heard will be your portion. 1 Corinthians 2:9

Blessing 4:  God will make your life his dwelling, his residence. John 14:23

● Receive the grace to love God

● Receive the grace to have time for God as the proof of your love for him.

● Receive the grace to love others as the proof of your love for God.

CHAPTER 6 | THE WALL OF KINGDOM STEWARSHIP

PART 1 : SERVING GOD IS A CHOICE

Joshua 24:15

●  Nothing under heaven pays the most like serving God. Nothing under heaven blesses the most like serving God.

● You cannot serve God and suffer the consequences of generational curses. Impossible.

● Your service to God entitles you to generational blessings. Hallelujah !!!

● Serving God pays the unmatchable more than any other service in the world.

- The hidden curses

- The generational curses

- The self inflicted curses

- The parental curses

CHAPTER 3 | How do I know that there is a hidden curse?

Just like you can't define fire or electricity by themselves, you may also be unable to define curses but for the results of each.

Case 1 - Hiel (premature death, serial death, untimely death,...)

Case 2 - Jonah

- The cross is the altar built upon the sacrificial death and the precious  blood of Christ.

- On the cross, the curse of the law was broken. Hallelujah!

ALTAR OF THE CHURCH. ZECHARIAH 14:17

- The families of the earth that will not go to Jerusalem (place of worship), rain will not fall on them.
