THE PROUD HEART PART 1
INTRODUCTION
If David was called a man after God's heart, it is not because he was a perfect man, but it is because he was permanently praying God to search and examine his heart. Have you ever prayed such prayer yourself?
We discover those prayers of David in the book of Psalms,
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.(Psalms 139:23-24)
Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. (Psalms 26:2)
I don't care about who you are. I don't care about the title you carry in church. I don't care about how people praise you. But the hard truth about your heart and about my heart is that IT IS WICKED AND DECEITFUL as God says it in Jeremiah 17:9
"The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?"
WHAT IS PRIDE ?
Pride is defined as an exaggerated sense of personal worth that is accompanied by feelings of arrogance, height, sufficiency or vanity.
Pride is not a feeling. Pride is the spirit of the devil himself. Pride was the sin that got Satan kicked out of Heaven and Adam and Eve kicked out of the Eden garden.
Pride transformed Lucifer, an anointed cherub of God, the very "seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty," (Ezekiel 28:12) into Satan, the devil, the father of lies, the one for whom Hell itself was created. (John 8:44, Matthew 25:41)
We consider homosexuality evil, murder evil, but when it comes to pride we overlook it. Pride is not only an evil spirit. Pride is also a sin.
It was the sin of pride which first led Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit. In Genesis we read,
"Then the serpent said to the woman, 'You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.' So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate." (Genesis 3:4-6)CONCLUSION
1/ REPENT BEFORE THE LORD FOR THE SIN OF PRIDE IN YOUR HEART
Proverbs 21:4 An high look, and a proud heart, [and] the plowing of the wicked, [is] sin.
2/ CRY UNTO THE LORD FOR HIS MERCY BECAUSE PRIDE IN YOUR HEART MAKES YOU DISGUSTING IN HIS EYES AND PUTS YOU UNDER HIS WRATH
Proverbs 16:5 Every one [that is] proud in heart [is] an abomination to the LORD: [though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished.3/ PRIDE IN YOUR HEART IS WHAT AFFECTS AND IS NEGATIVELY AFFECTING YOUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHERS. PRAY GOD TO CHANGE YOU.
Proverbs 28:25 He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.
SO SHALL IT BE.
