KEYS TO OPEN HEAVEN ... KEY NUMBER 8 "KILL THE SPIRIT OF PROCRASTINATION AND POSTPONEMENT"

DATE : THURSDAY 09.11.2017
TOPIC : KILL THE SPIRIT OF PROCRASTINATION AND POSTPONEMENT
TEXT : Matthew 3:15

When Jesus faced the resistance from John the Baptist, he did not allow him to stop him. Rather, he said one thing — "let it be so now".

By using this word "Now", Jesus is teaching us today that what has to be done NOW has to be done NOW and not later. The open heaven experience belongs to those who know their NOW and who do in their NOW what they are supposed to do without procrastinating or postponing it to later.

Brethren, may it be clear for us today that "procrastination and postponment mentalities are evil spiritual hindrances to experience the open heaven."

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROCRASTINATION AND POSTPONEMENT ?
  • PROCRASTINATION is putting off a task when all of the needed resources are available
  • POSTPONEMENT is waiting until adequate resources are available before moving forward.
Ecclesiastes 11:4, “He who observes the wind [and waits for all conditions to be favorable] will not sow, and he who regards the clouds will not reap." AMP
WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PROCRASTINATOR AND HOW TO DEAL WITH IT?

1. Procrastinators spend all their time checking social networks and emails and few time doing what they are called to do.

Solution: The only way to stop doing it is to be ruthless and disciplined. Be mindful of how much time you spend on social media. Set some deadlines – like not doing it until 1 pm, or having certain periods of the day when you can do it for half an hour.
1 Corinthians 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring [it] into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Ephesians 5:16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
QUESTION : I ask you just one question today : In the 24 hours God gives you everyday can you honestly say at the end of the day that you did what God has called to do?

2. Procrastinators are always late.

You will agree with me that when something matters really for us, like when we travel, we do our best to get ready on time.

Therefore, to come late in meetings, in fellowships, in church or in any other organisation is a language and a message. No matter the reason, being always late shows our lack of respect, our lack of seriousness, our lack of preparation, our lack of commitment and our lack of devotion.

SOLUTION : To keep time, you have to be disciplined enough  to start preparing yourself and getting ready one or two hours earlier than you usually do.
Ezra 7:10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do [it], and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.
QUESTION : I ask you just one question today : how many meetings did you attend on time this year 2017?

3. Procrastinators usually don’t finish what they start.

Is there any student who graduates after dropping school in the midst of the year? Is there any team in football or in any other sport that is given the cup before winning the last competition?

If I might give you a simple definition of failure I will tell you that failure is is starting and not finishing.

I ask you just one question today : how many projects (spiritual, intellectual, ...) did you start and complete this year 2017 ?

2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished [my] course, I have kept the faith.
PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS AND PRAYERS

We will stand against 5 spirits “time-killers” that give the procrastination mentality legal ground in our lives.

1. Spirit of indecision. "A double minded man is unstable in all he does."  (James 1:8 LB)

2. Spirit of perfectionism. "If you wait for perfect conditions, you'll never get anything done!" (Ecclesiastes 11:4 LB)

3. Spirit of fear. "The fear of man is a trap."  (Proverbs 29:25 LB)

4. Spirit of anger. "A lazy person is as bad as someone who is destructive." (Proverbs 18:9 GNT) Procrastination is a way to get back at people we don't like.

5. Spirit of laziness. "Lazy people want much but get little, while the diligent are prospering." (Proverbs 13:4 LB)

SO SHALL IT BE!
JESUS IS LORD!
