THEME : IN THE VOLUME OF THE BOOK IT IS WRITTEN OF ME
TEXT : MATTHEW 3:16-17 / HEBREWS 10:5-7 / LUKE 1:35
As I continue to read the text of the open heaven, I realize that it was not the first time that the heaven was opened for Jesus Christ.
You will agree with me that the Lord could not come to the planet earth without heaven being opened. In fact, when the angel Gabriel spoke to Mary of her supernatural conception, he said to her :
«The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.» (Luke 1:35)
What really happened behind the scene before Jesus Christ comes on earth? We read the following in Hebrews 10: 5-7 :
«5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: 6 In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. 7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.»
From this text, we learn a great lesson that heaven was not opened upon Jesus by chance or by pure coincidence. Rather, it was because in his coming into the world, Jesus Christ knew well and confessed clearly and boldly that "IN THE VOLUME OF THE BOOK IT WAS WRITTEN OF HIM".
What does it mean for us? It means that the heaven opens in response to our knowledge and bold confession of what is written in the volume of the book concerning us.
Do you want the heaven to open on your spiritual life? Make a search for what the volume of the book says about your spiritual life, make it yours and confess it. You will see the sky open on your spiritual life.
Do you want the heaven to open on your finances, your marriage, your health and every other aspects of your life? Do the same. Make a search for what the book says about your finances, your marriage, your health and every aspect of your life. Then, you will certainly see the heaven open.
Let us have a look at Caleb's case in the Bible.
When Israel crossed the Jordan to their promised land, Caleb knew what the Lord said about him. Not only did he know it, he also kept it in his heart for 40 years while in the desert. When the time came, he appeared before Joshua and made a request to acquire his territory in accordance with what had been said to him 45 years before.
We read this in Joshua 14: 6/12
« Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea. [...] Joshua 14:12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the LORD spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims [were] there, and [that] the cities [were] great [and] fenced: if so be the LORD [will be] with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the LORD said.»
LESSONS FROM CALEB AND PRAYER FOR APPLICATION
LESSON 1 - Caleb knew what the Lord had told Moses about him.
👉 What about you? Do you know what God said about you in the volume of the book?
PRAY.
LESSON 2 - Caleb kept in his heart what the LORD had said concerning him.
👉 What about you? Do you keep in your heart what the LORD says about you?
PRAY.
LESSON 3 - Caleb made what the Lord said to him his object and his subject of prayer.
👉 What about you? Do you confess what the Lord tells you personally? Do you make it your object and your subject of prayer?
PRAY.
LESSON 4 - Caleb, knowing what God had personally told him, asked Joshua to give him his mountain even though it was inhabited by giants.
Far from being intimidated and / or frightened, he believed that they could not be an obstacle to the fulfillment of what was written about him in the volume of the book.
