⏩ COVENANT OF INFALLIBLE PROOFS ⏪ DAY 27 "ENERGIZE YOURSELF"

SCRIPTURE
Isaiah 40:30-31 "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
KEY STATEMENT

Everyone tends to feel discouraged or depressed for one reason or another. For centuries, people have been plagued by the virus of discouragement. Those who failed to deal with it properly ended up stagnating in life. Those who dealt with it in a proper way paved their way to scale greater heights in life.

ELIJAH, DAVID AND JOHN THE BAPTIST
  • Elijah faced discouragement because of emotional letdown. Swallowed by discouragement, he prayed God to take away his life.
Elijah was victorious in defeating Baal's false prophets on Mt. Carmel. However, he remained fearful of Jezebel's revenge and fled to the cave.
Elijah came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. "I have had enough, Lord," he said. "Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors." Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. (1 Kings 19:4-5, Holy Bible - New International Version)

  • David faced discouragement after being defeated by the Amalekites.
It is written in 1 Samuel 30:3-4

"When David and his men reached Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive. So, David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep?
  • John the Baptist faced discouragement while in prison. He got offended at Christ and allowed doubt to take control of him. He died in prison.
He was a man of God who was facing doubts in that dark prison cell. He asked Jesus,
Are you the coming One, or do we look for another?"(Matthew 11:2)

WHAT CAUSES DISCOURAGEMENT?

1st cause : Failure

Sometimes, the best laid plans fall apart, the project collapses, the deal falls through, one shows up to the event.

How do you react? Do you give in to self-pity? Do you blame others? As one man said, "Just when I think I can makes ends meet --somebody moves the ends! That's discouraging!

2nd cause : Fatigue

Fatigue is not only physical. It can also be emotional, psychological, or even spiritual.

When you’re physically or emotionally exhausted, you’re a prime candidate to be infected with discouragement. Your defenses are lowered and things can seem bleaker than they really are. This often occurs when you’re halfway through a major project and you get tired.

It is normal to get tired. Jesus was physically tired. But the good thing is to know how to be refreshed, to make a new start.

3rd cause : Frustration

Frustration is the feeling of being upset, annoyed or disappointed, especially because of inability to change or achieve something.

4 THINGS TO DO TO ENERGIZE YOURSELF

What does it mean to energize? It means to give energy or excitement to someone or something. It is also to give vitality and enthusiasm to someone or something.

1st thing : ENERGIZE YOURSELF BY GIVING YOURSELF GOOD REASONS TO FLY HIGH

Isaiah 40:30-31 "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

A WORD FOR YOU : When tiredness comes, there's a message behind: stop to rely on your strength and start to rely on the strength from above. Stop to rely on the natural. Start to rely on the supernatural. This is the first cure.

2nd thing : ENERGIZE YOURSELF BY ENCOURAGING YOURSELF IN THE LORD

1 Samuel 30:6 "David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God."

A WORD FOR YOU : Don't wait to be encouraged from outside. Encourage yourself from inside as David did. Speak the promises of the Lord to yourself. Speak blessings to yourself. Go back to the notes of your pastor's teachings. Listen to his past preachings. As you do so, you are energizing yourself

3rd thing : ENERGIZE YOURSELF BY KEEPING YOUR REWARD IN MIND

Galatians 6:9 "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."
A WORD FOR YOU : Keep in mind your harvest. There will be a harvest for what you do in the house of the Lord. There will be a harvest for what you do at home. There will be a harvest for waking up every morning to be in the presence of God. There will be a harvest for reading the Bible everyday.

4th thing :  ENERGIZE YOURSELF BY KEEPING THE END IN MIND
Habakkuk 2:3 "For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry."

A WORD FOR YOU : Sometimes discouragement comes when what we expect from God is slow in coming. You expect the salvation of your family but there's no result until now. God says to you today: IT WILL CERTAINLY COME. IT WILL NOT BE KEPT BACK.
