⏩ COVENANT OF INFALLIBLE PROOFS ⏪ DAY 17 "A PRIEST BURIED LIKE A KING AND A KING BURIED ANYHOW"

KEY STATEMENT

Today's meditation is just about giving us an opportunity to think through and weigh our actions and our present life. We would like to have a brief look at some biblical figures and compare how they lived and how they ended their lives.

The purpose is simply to awake us and to make us more aware of how we live in the world and to cause us to decide of how we will leave the world.

Let us have a look and study those 5 cases :

  • 1st case : He started as an apostle but finished as a traitor

Judas Iscariot was an apostle of Jesus. He spent 3 years with Jesus. He saw the miracles Of Jesus. He even performed mighty miracles. But at the end of his life he committed suicide and failed to share the eternity with Jesus Christ
"And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.: (Matthew 27:5)

  • 2nd case : He lived as a thief but finished saveed
The thief on the cross spent only some hours with Jesus. He was not among the apostles. He was not a right person. But at the end of his life he was promised to share the  eternity with Jesus Christ.
"And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.: (Luke 23:43)
  • 3rd case : He lived as a priest but was buried among the kings
Jehoiada was a priest, not a king but when he died, because of the quality of his life and of his works, he ended up to be buried in the sepulchre of kings.
"But Jehoiada waxed old, and was full of days when he died; an hundred and thirty years old was he when he died. And THEY BURIED HIM IN THE CITY OF DAVID AMONG THE KINGS, because he had done good in Israel, both toward God, and toward his house." (2 Chronicles 24:15-16)
  • 4th case : He was a king but was not buried in the sepulchres of kings
Joash in the other hand was a king but when he died, he was not buried in the sepulchre of kings.
"And when they were departed from him, (for they left him in great diseases,) his own servants conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and slew him on his bed, and he died: and they buried him in the city of David, but THEY BURIED HIM NOT IN THE SEPULCHRES OF THE KINGS." (2 Chronicles 24:25 (KJV)

  • 5th case : She was not loved while she was alive but was buried next to the one who never loved her.

Leah was not loved by Jacob all the time she lived with him. Contrary to Leah, Rachel was loved by Jacob. At the end, we all know that Rachel died along the way and was buried along the way.

But Leah the unloved fiinished her race gloriously and was buried gloriously in the sane sepulchre with Abraham, Sara, Isaac and Rebecca while Rachel was buried elsewhere .

"29 And Jacob charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that is in the field of Ephron the Hittite, 30 In the cave that is in the field of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace. 31 There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah. (Genesis 49:29-31)

QUESTIONS TO PONDER

1st question : What  can make a king be not buried among kings while a priest who was not a king is buried among kings ?

2nd question : What  can make a man finish weak while he started strong?

3rd question : How will you finish your race on the earth?

APPLICATION

Lesson 1 : You don't choose how you come in the world but you choose how you live in the world and how you will leave the world.

Lesson 2 : Always keep the end in mind because the end is better than the beginning
"Better [is] the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: [and] the patient in spirit [is] better than the proud in spirit." (Ecclesiastes 7:8)
"Though THY BEGINNING WAS SMALL, yet THY LATTER END SHOULD GREATLY INCREASE." (Job 8:7)
"So the LORD BLESSED THE LATTER END OF JOB MORE THAN HIS BEGINNING: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses." (Job 42:12)
