⏩ COVENANT OF MARVELS ⏪ DAY 17 "THE POWER OF THE FREE WILL"

READINGJohn 5:1-9

Today’s miracle is about a man who was paralytic for 38 years and healed by Jesus in the pool of Bethesda.

When Jesus Christ meets this man, he starts ministering to him by asking him one question: “DO YOU WANT TO BE HEALED?” (John 5:5).

Why did Jesus ask such question before he performs a miracle for him? For 4 reasons:
  • 1st reason : Where there is free will, God has free access to do marvels.
  • 2nd reason : God accepts and blesses only a willing heart.
  • 3rd reason : There is nothing God can do for somebody who is not ready
  • 4th reason : Jesus never heals and never saves a man who does not want to be healed and to be saved.

1st reason:  Because where there is free will, God has free access to do marvels

It is important for us to understand that God never forces his will on men but always respects their free will. We see it in Deuteronomy 30:19 where God says,
"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, [that] I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live"
Again iRevelation 3:20, we see Jesus standing at the door of man’s heart and knocking waiting for him to open his heart so that he can enter and dine with him

In Luke 13:34 it is written "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning the ones having been sent to her. How often I wanted to gather-together your children the way a hen does her own brood under her wings, and you did not want it."

2nd reason: Because God accepts and blesses only a willing heart.

In 2 Corinthians 8:12, Paul says, "For if there be first a willing mind, [it is] accepted according to that a man hath, [and] not according to that he hath not."

3rd reason: Because there is nothing God can do for somebody who is not ready

In Isaiah 1:19, God says, If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land”

From this text, it is clear that not everybody is ever entitled to eat the good of the land. Only those who are willing and obedient are entitled to it.

In the Gospels, Jesus teaches a parable of a king who made the wedding ready. He invited people to come and attend to it saying,
"Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and [my] fatlings [are] killed, and all things [are] ready: come unto the marriage." (Matthew 22:4)
Unfortunately, all of them made excuses simply because they were not ready. And because they were not ready, none of them ever tasted the oxen and the fatlings prepared by the king.

4th reason : Because Jesus never heals and never saves a man who does not want to be healed and to be saved.

Today Jesus is asking you these questions:
  • Jesus is not asking you "are you able to be healed?" but "do you want to be healed?"
  • Jesus is not asking you “is it possible to get healed” but “do you want to get healed?”.
  • Jesus is not asking you “tell me the story of what happened” but “do you want to get healed?”
  • Are you willing to allow God to use you so that through you many can be reached and blessed?
  • Are you willing to move to the next level of your blessing?
  • Are you willing to change?
  • Are you willing to forgive that man/woman who wronged you so that God can heal your soul?

PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS AND PRAYERS

PRAYER 1 | Pray the Father to grant you a willing and obedient heart so that you will eat the good of the land.
Isaiah 1:19, If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land”

PRAYER 2 | Pray the Father to help you to be willing to receive his grace.
Luke 13:34 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen [doth gather] her brood under [her] wings, and ye would not!"

PRAYER 3 | Pray the Father to create in you a ready mind and a ready heart so that you will be partaker of everything He has made ready for you in his Kingdom.
"Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and [my] fatlings [are] killed, and all things [are] ready: come unto the marriage." (Matthew 22:4)
