I. WHAT IS THE LANDMARK?
A landmark is anything, as a stone or stake, trees or heaps of stones at the corners that marked the boundary of a tribe, or of a man’s possession.
II. LANDMARK MEANS "TOUCH NOT" AND "CROSS NOT".
From Scriptures, wherever a landmark is set, there is a "touch not" and "cross not" warning concerning that specific territory or people. Which implies that anyone who will dare to cross or to violate it is bound to death.
Example 1 : When a man is anointed by the Lord, the anointing of God upon his life marks him with a spiritual tag written "TOUCH NOT"
IT IS WRITTEN in Psalms 105:15 "Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm."
Example 2 : Anyone who dared to cross the bounds round about the mountain where Moses was receiving the Torah was to be put to death
IT IS WRITTEN in Exodus 19:12 "Thou shalt set bounds unto the people round about, saying, Take heed to yourselves, [that ye] go [not] up into the mount, or touch the border of it: whosoever toucheth the mount shall be surely put to death:
Example 3 : In the land where Abraham and his wife were living, there was a "touch not" decree from the king Abimelech forbiding anyone to touch them
IT IS WRITTEN in Genesis 26:11 And Abimelech charged all [his] people, saying, He that toucheth this man or his wife shall surely be put to death.
Example 4 : By reason of the covenant, the people of God is ordained to be the untouchable apple of God's eye.
IT IS WRITTEN in Zechariah 2:8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts ...he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
III. PRAYER ALTAR AND LANDMARK
God can allow the enemy to challenge a son of God but God can never allow the enemy to defeat the son of God.
The Bible shows us clearly that the altar is the spiritual boundary that draws a line and a limit that the devil is not permitted to cross in our territory.
Example 1 : When Samuel was the prophet and the judge over the people of Israel, we read in 1 Samuel 7:10-14 that one day, while he was offering the sacrifice on the altar, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel but the Lord from the altar thundered them with a great thunder and discomfited them. Since then, the Philistines never dared to come again to attack Israel.
1 Samuel 7:10 And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the LORD thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel.
Example 2 : Among the prominent in the Bible, there is a man called Job. This man was a tireless man accustomed to offer burnt offerings upon his altar every morning (Job 1:5).
After permission was granted to the devil to swift Job, God remembered Job's daily altar and set a boundary the devil was not permitted to cross. He said to him in Job 1:12,
"Behold, all that he hath [is] in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD."
Example 3 : In the New Testament, it is established that the devil is not permitted to touch those who are born of God. But this truth is applied only in the believer who takes a personal responsibility to keep himself holy at his prayer altar.
IT IS WRITTEN in 1 John 5:18 "We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not."
