DAY 33 JESUS HEALS A LUNATIC BOY
Reading : Matthew 17:14-21; Mark 9:14-29; Luke 9:37-43
Today’s miracle is about a young boy lunatic healed by Jesus.
POINT 1 THE DEVIL’S POWER IS ORIENTED TO HURT MEN
In Matthew 17:15, the father describes the challenge his boy was facing, saying, ”He is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.”
It is written
John 10:10 “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.”
QUESTIONS
§ Does it happen to you to hurt yourself or hurt others consciously or unconsciously?§ Are you addicted to self-destructive behaviors such as drug addiction? Sex addiction? Alcohol addiction?§ Have you been hurt by others that you gave up on your faith?§ Does it happen to you to have suicidal thoughts?§ Do you know people you can pray for today to be delivered from the self-destructive orientation?
PRAYER
POINT No 1
§ Hurt people hurt people. Pray and cry unto the Lord that He may heal you so that you will be made whole.
o Read and pray with Job 5:18 For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
ππππππππ
§ The wounded part of your life needs to be ministered to and addressed to by the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Pray and cry unto the Lord to pour his anointing on you so that you may be made whole.
o Read and pray with Luke 4:18 “… he hath anointed me to heal the broken hearted…”
ππππππππ
§ When your heart lacks love, you cannot give love. Pray that the Lord baptizes you with the Spirit of Love so that you will be empowered to forgive and to love.
o Read and pray with 2 Timothy 1:7 “God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

POINT 2 JESUS WILL TURN THAT PUBLIC SHAME INTO THE DEVIL’S PUBLIC SHAME
In this text, the father of the boy makes a tragic statement to Jesus concerning his disciples.
He says in Matthew 17:16 “I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.”
I just imagine how the crowd were laughing and mocking the disciples for failing to cast out the evil spirit from this young boy.
What a public shame? What a public humiliation? What a public disappointment? What a public embarrassment?
Thanks be to God because Jesus came in the scene to cast out the evil spirit. By doing so, he turned the disciples’ shame into the devil’s shame.
QUESTIONS
§ Is there any problem, any challenge in your life that cause any embarrassment to you?
§ Do you find yourself powerless before the devil? Before a particular sin? Before a particular challenge in your life?
§ Do you bekieve that Jesus is able to turn it around?
PRAYER POINT No 2
§ Pray fervently the Father for that particular shameful situation and hand it over to Him so that he may turn it into a public shame to the devil.
o Read and pray with Colossians 2:15 He stripped the rulers and authorities of their power and made a public spectacle of them as he celebrated his victory in Christ.
ππππππππ
§ At the cross, Jesus “disarmed the powers and authorities”. The word “disarmed” means to put off completely, to undress completely and thus render powerless. With and by faith, take authority over the powers and authorities of darkness. Declare boldly that in your life, in your marriage, in your business, in your mind, in your spirit, they are powerless, disarmed, doomed, undressed and stripped off by the power of the cross in the Name of Jesus Christ.
o Read and pray with Colossians 2:15 He stripped (disarmed) the rulers and authorities of their power and made a public spectacle of them as he celebrated his victory in Christ.
ππππππππ
§ There is nothing humiliating for a believer and for the church of Jesus Christ than to be powerless before the powers of darkness. Pray that the Lord will enlighten and illuminate his church so that the believers will know that they have greater power in them than the devil.
o Read and pray with 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
POINT 3 JESUS NEVER FAILS . . .
The reason why things didn’t work for the disciples was not because God was deficient. It was because the disciples became complacent (self-satisfied in their comfort zone) and self-sufficient (no more need of prayer, no more need of fasting and no more need of faith).
In Matthew 17:19 we discover how that bitter experience contributed to draw the disciples more closely to Jesus Christ.
It is written “Then the disciples came to Jesus privately . . .”
By approaching Jesus privately, they’ve discovered three reasons for their failure:
a) There was lack of faith (Matthew 17:20)
b) There was lack of prayer (Mark 9:29)
c) There was lack of fasting (Mark 9:29)
QUESTIONS
§ If you honestly examine yourself, don’t you think that you have fallen into the abyss of complacency?
§ Are you still in the faith? Do you still fast and pray? Do you attend the Bible studies?
§ Don’t you suppose you are self-sufficient in your life, indulgent in worldliness and lack of compassion for others?
§ Don’t you think you need revival and tremendous awakening that will lead you to love God with your whole heart?
PRAYER POINT No 3
§ At the cross, the devil was made publicly and officially powerless. If in private, we don’t have faith, we don’t pray and we don’t fast, it is the devil who will make us publicly ashamed powerless. Cry therefore to the Lord with all your might and ask him to restore your prayer life, your fasting life and your faith life.
o Read and pray with Mark 9:29 “He said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.”
ππππππππ
§ Self sufficiency leads a man to stop praying, fasting and keeping the faith. If such is your case, repent before the Lord and cry unto him to empty you from you and create in you a thirst and hunger for prayer, for fasting and for spiritual business.
o Read and pray with
§ Proverbs 13:7 There is that maketh himself rich, yet [hath] nothing: [there is] that maketh himself poor, yet [hath] great riches.
§ Psalms 42:2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
§ John 7:37 In the last day, that great [day] of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
§ Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
