🔵 Sometimes you get so tired you feel like you just can’t keep going.
🔵 David knew that feeling. He had reached the end of the rope. But instead of giving up, he prayed this in verse 2:
🔵 𝙋𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙢 61:2 𝙀𝙎𝙑 — “𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙝 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙛𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩. 𝙇𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣 𝙄”
🔵 The Hebrew is Tzur yarum mimeni (צוּר יָרוּם מִמֶּנִּי). Tzur is a massive, unmovable rock or cliff. Yarum means high, exalted, or lifted up. Mimeni means “higher than me.”
🔵 Why did David ask for a high rock? Imagine being chased by an enemy stronger than you. If the rock is low, the enemy can still climb up and reach you. But if the rock is higher than you, you can’t get there on your own. God has to lift you and place you there. Once God lifts you up, you are safe, because the evil one cannot reach you there.
🔵 And once you are there, God covers you like a mother eagle covers her young with her wings to protect them from the storm.
🔵 Friend, stop trying to carry everything by yourself. It only leaves you more exhausted. You cannot make a safe place on your own. Ask God for help instead. He will lift you, place you where evil cannot reach you, and cover you with His love.
🔵 𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚? 𝙋𝙧𝙖𝙮, “𝙂𝙤𝙙, 𝙄’𝙢 𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙩𝙞𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙗𝙮 𝙢𝙮𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛. 𝙋𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙩 𝙢𝙚 𝙪𝙥 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥 𝙢𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙛𝙚. 𝘼𝙢𝙚𝙣!”
