THE 7 ALTARS BUILT BY ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB | TUE 18-02-2025 | THE ALTAR OF BETHEL

Genesis 12:8 "And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD.

In this verse, Abraham moves from the lowlands to a mountain east of Bethel between Bethel and Hai, where he pitches his tent. This transition symbolizes a move to the higher ground of faith. The geographical markers mentioned here are not mere details; they symbolize Abraham's journey of faith.

Bethel, meaning "House of God," represents a place of divine connection and promise. Hai, on the other hand, often signifies ruin or destruction. By positioning himself between these two places, Abraham embodies the balance between spiritual aspiration and the challenges of earthly life.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE ALTAR OF BETHEL

a) Place of Worship: The altar was a sacred space where Abram could commune with God.

b) Act of Remembrance: By building the altar, Abram ensures that his journey is marked by a tangible reminder of God's guidance and promises.

c) Commitment to God: The altar signifies Abram's unwavering commitment to follow God's path.

b) Build Acts of Remembrance

Establish markers in your life that help you remember His faithfulness, similar to how Abram built the altar.

c) Demonstrate Commitment to God

Use the altar as a symbol of steadfast commitment and evaluate how you can align your life with His will and purpose.
