Introduction
There is a concern about christians in church. The concern is about their lack of responsibility.
There are 3 types of believers.
1. The aggressive - Those that make things happen
2. The passive - those that watch things happen and as a result;
- live as victims not victors.
- live powerless, as one who's fatherless.
3. The wonderers
Part 2: What is wrong with us?
1. We lack understanding/knowledge. Hos 4:6
- Take responsibility to access knowledge not accuse the devil all the time.
- There is a disconnect between what God says in Ps 82:6-7 and what happens. Be responsible.
- The gap is present because people do not know, and don't understand, and therefore end up living in darkness. Ps 82:5
The case of the baker in Gen 40:17
• The baker in a dream saw birds eating bake meats meant for Pharaoh out of the basket on his head.
• The dream was a reflection of his carelessness.
- The birds symbolize evil spirits, eating up our businesses, marriages, relationships e.t.c.
- Take responsibility, wake up! and do something about it. Else, you will end up a victim of the enemy.
• It is important to take note of the following observations concerning dreams;
- Dreams can be messages from God.
- Dreams can be a revelation of your personality.
Therefore, do not jump into conclusions concerning dreams but, pray to God and ask for revelation to know what the dream means.
Part 3: God the covenant keeper
Luke 18:7 God avenges his elect when they cry to him.
Ex 23:22 God will be the enemy of our enemies.
Ex 14:14 God will fight for us when we hold our peace.
*Zec 2:8 *We enjoy the protection of God because we are the apple of his eye, as long as we remain in the covenant.
2 Thess 1:6 God will always trouble those who trouble us, as long as we are in the covenant.
Deut 30:7 When you keep the covenant with God, He will curse those who curse you.
Part 4: How do we take responsibility?
1. Arise, get out of slumber. Judges 5:7
2. Act, so God can do something about the situation.
Case 1: Herod vexing the church. Acts 12:1-4
• engage in violent prayers.
- pray for the church to thrive.
- pray for all politicians.
Case 2: Haman took a decree against the Israelites, but Esther arose and engaged in violent prayer. Esther 4:14
- if you do not speak, God will raise someone else and you and your household will be destroyed.
