Before they emerge as giants in their generation, men
and women in the Bible experienced many things in common among which is “REJECTION”.
Abraham was rejected. Isaac was rejected. Jacob was
rejected. Joseph was rejected. Moses was rejected. Christ was rejected. Paul and all the other apostles were rejected.
WHAT IS REJECTION?
Rejection is:
§
The act of refusing to accept, use, or believe someone
or something:
§
The refusal to show someone the love or kindness that
they need or expect (e.g. Fear of rejection prevents many people from forming
close relationships.)
§
The feeling of being unloved, or unwanted.
§
The refusal to accept someone for a job or course of
study
FORMS OF REJECTION
In the
Bible, there are 4 Forms of rejection:
1st form/ Not being accepted or received or
welcomed
Jesus experienced
this form of rejection when he came in the world. This is what we read in
2nd form/ Being ignored, unnoticed
...Standing at the door, knocking and no one to open the door
3rd form/ Being chased away
4th form/ Being sold (betrayed …)
WHAT
HAPPEN WHEN ONE IS REJECTED?
One thing to know about rejection is that it hurts
badly and it can hurt deadly. When it occurs, there are many voices speaking in
you. Emotions are mixed up. Your Focus is down. There is anger. There is
disappointment. There is confusion. Your
thoughts are unsettled. Yes. You feel abused. And surely there is a feeling
also of revenge, of doing something that will cause those who reject you feel
what you are feeling now. There is also a feeling of powerlessness. You cannot
control what is happening. You want to take action but you are thinking
"which action should I take?" Maybe taking action that will harm me.
No. What should I do?
Maybe running away can be the solution. Not running
away. Let me move out. It can help me to breathe a little bit. But if I move
out do I solve anything? I'm not sure. Actually I don't know what to do.
That’s what actually happens when rejection happens. It
leaves you powerless, confused, drained, exhausted, disappointed, abused, …
HOW
TO DEAL WITH REJECTION?
1st
key: DON’T EXPECT OTHERS TO APPRECIATE WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU HAVE IF YOU DON’T
DO IT YOURSELF FIRST.
Though it hurts, give yourself time to remember that you
have been created by God to be a living and walking wonder. But not everybody
will see and appreciate the wonder you are until you see it and appreciate it
first.
Psalms 71:7 I am as a wonder unto many; but thou [art] my strong refuge.
Psalms 139:14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: marvellous [are] thy works; and [that] my soul knoweth right well.
2nd
key: IT IS NOT STRANGE TO BE REJECTED OR TO BE IGNORED BY OTHERS. WHAT IS
STRANGE IS WHEN YOU ARE IGNORANT OF YOUR WORTH.
One thing always happens to everyone who is a wonder:
rejection. It means in other words that if you really are a wonder, don't
expect everybody to accept and appreciate it.
Like it or not, you will be
rejected, not accepted and not appreciated by some. Does it mean that you are
no longer a wonder? No. Why ? Because when God says so, people's opinion is
irrelevant.
In Isaiah 9:6, Jesus is called
"Wonderful...".
In John 1:11, the Wonderful is rejected as it is
written, "He came unto his own, and his own received him not." But
the Wonderful is still wonderful because in John 1:12, he gives to those who
receive him power to become the sons of God.
3rd
key: REJECTION IS NOT ORDAINED TO STOP LIFE BUT TO LEAD TO HIGHER LEVELS IN
LIFE
Rejection happens for a purpose. In the plan of God,
rejection is always the gateway to promotion.
In Psalm 118:22,
the builders rejected the stone but God turned the rejected stone into the head
stone of the corner.
The sons of Jacob rejected Joseph but God turned the
rejected Joseph as the life preserver of those who rejected him.
The Israelites rejected Moses but God turned the
rejected Moses as the chied deliverer of those who rejected him.
What does it mean? It means that life never stops when
you are rejected. The same way you cannot reach the top of the mountain without
passing through the valley, the same way rejection is the valley you will have
to go through before you reach the top.
4th
key: CHANGE THE WAY YOU SEE REJECTION AND REJECTION WILL CHANGE YOU TO A BETTER
YOU
Rejection can kill or fulfill your destiny, stagnates
or advances your life depending on how you consider it.
If rejection is considered as a stumbling block, the
devil will use it to hurt you, to keep you bitter and to kill your destiny. If
it is considered as a stepping stone, God will use it to heal you, to make you
better and to fulfill your destiny on the earth.
What
does it mean? It means that if you feel bitter or angry against
those who reject you, you are allowing the devil to use it to kill your
destiny. But if you forgive, you let go and you love those who reject you, you
are allowing God to cause you to become what his mouth has ordained you to
become.
After being rejected and sold by his brothers, Joseph
never allowed bitterness to kill his destiny. Rather, he was healed, he forgave
them and did them good.
In Genesis 50:20, he tells them,
"But as for you, ye thought evil against me; [but] God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as [it is] this day, to save much people alive."
PRAYERS TO HEAL FROM THE ARROW OF REJECTION

PROMOTION TO HELP YOU TO FOCUS ON WHAT HIS MOUTH HAS ORDAINED FOR YOU IN THE
NAME OF JESUS CHRIST. SO SHALL IT BE!
Declare and pray __________Father, I am what your mouth has ordained that I am. People's opinion toward me is irrelevant and cannot change it._____________

THE OPENING OF A NEW CHAPTER IN YOUR LIFE.

CHRIST. SO SHALL IT BE!
Father, I am thankful and grateful to you for allowing ------------ (mention his or her or their names) to reject me. I come before you and confess that I feel bitter and resentful toward ------------ (mention his or her or their names). But today, I pray that by the power of your Holy Spirit you heal me and help me to forgive them and to love them in the Name of Jesus Christ!
SO SHALL IT BE!
JESUS IS LORD!
