DEALING WITH THE SUBTLE SPIRIT
The first description the Bible gives us concerning the serpent is “subtle”. In Genesis 3:1, the Bible says, " *Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field...*"
WHAT ARE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF SUBTLE PEOPLE ?
*Subtle people* are slight and not obvious to detect
*Subtle people* use ambiguous words (= which distinction is difficult to make but is important)
*Subtle people* are shrewd, crafty, sly, sensible, deceitful, cunning, treacherous.
*Subtle people* know how to change the figure of something, to transform themselves with the purpose of striking the sense and hiding behind a secret plan to harm or cause damage.
*Subtle people* are artistically genius to set traps, secrets plots, cunning plan, especially one designed to cause damage or harm
*Subtle people* are good pretenders and professional hypocrites
*HOW TO DEAL WITH SUBTLE PEOPLE ?*
*1st test : The test of footsteps*
*Statement* : To detect a pretender, hear more his footsteps than his good speech. What the mouth of subtle people says never matches with how they live. What they are in secret never matches with what they are in public.
1 John 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.
*2nd test : The test of conformity with Scriptures*
*Statement* : To detect a pretender and a subtle man or woman, check everything according to the conformity with Scriptures. Subtle people twist Scriptures, challenge Scriptures, despise Scriptures, lower the standard of Scriptures to comfort their flaws.
*Acts 17:11* The people of Berea were more open-minded than the people of Thessalonica. They were very willing to receive God’s message, and *every day they carefully examined the Scriptures to see if what Paul said was true*.
*3rd test : The test of time.*
*Statement* : Every lie has an expiry date. The only thing pretenders is to pretend forever. Judas Iscariot lived in pretence for three years but he ended up to be exposed.
GWV Proverbs 12:19 The word of truth lasts forever, but lies last only a moment.
*RESPOND IN PRAYER*
- Father, rebuke me when I am wrong
- Father, deal with my hidden weaknesses
- Father, surround me with people who will tell me the truth
- Father, help me to be true to you and to myself
- Father, expose the pretenders and keep them away from me
- Father, I will never be victims of pretenders and fake people in my ministry, in my business in the Name of Jesus Christ
SO SHALL IT BE
