HOW TO BE FREE FROM MOOD SWINGS?
READING
1 Kings 18:21 "Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD [be] God, follow him: but if Baal, [then] follow him. And the people answered him not a word."
MEDITATION
Even though we are born
again, it happens to us many times to be emotionally stuck and trapped by what I call mood
swings. I know and I believe today that somebody will receive a supernatural breakthrough
in his emotions and be free from the trap of those mood swings.
Anyone who experiences mood
swings knows how unpredictable, irregular and changeable their moods can be and
how they can negatively affect their relationship with God and with others.
For example, you wake up
happy, you have good time in your one and one with the Lord, you are singing
the hymns of joy to the Lord, but unexpectedly, abruptly and suddenly your mood
changes and suddenly you become irritable and start polluting the environment around
you. Another example, you plan to attend the Bible study or to go to church, but
then your mood changes and you choose to stay home to watch your Novela Movie
or go to the beach just to do your own things.
My dear friend, if such is
your case, allow me to go straight to the point by telling you that your
moods are your master and you are slave of your moods. How that, pastor, you
may ask me?
Don’t you notice that you
wanted to go to church and your mood told you not to? Don’t you notice that you
woke up happy but your mood told you not to? Isn’t it that your mood leads you
instead of you leading your mood? If you're tossed and driven around by your
uncontrolled emotions, then you're simply a slave to your moods. It simply
follows that your moods are your master.
What is the definition of
the slave? According to the Bible, anything that we can't say "no" to
is our slave driver. 2 Peter 2:19 tells us, “A person is a slave to
whatever he gives in to."
HOW TO BE FREE FROM MOOD SWINGS?
1.
SUBMIT YOUR MOOD TO THE LORDSHIP AND MASTERSHIP OF JESUS
Elijah said, "... If the LORD [be] God, follow him: but if Baal, [then] follow him". There is no middle ground in
Christianity. We can only have one master, and if our moods are our masters,
then Christ surely isn't (Read Matthew 6:24).
2.
STOP MAKING EXCUSES AND ALLOW THE HOLY SPIRIT TO TAKE OVER YOUR MOOD, FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS.
We make many excuses to
justify ourselves over our mood swings (It’s normal, it’s hormonal, I’m
stressed, I’m overwhelmed, I’m in my monthly period, God will
understand me etc). Okay. Let’s assume you are right. BUT LET US REASON TOGETHER... Does it allow you to
become arrogant? to become rude toward your spouse or your children? to stop
praying? to stop reading your Bible? to not attend fellowship?
PRAYER
In Luke 4:18-19, Jesus
Christ says,
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."
Friend, believe that Christ
Jesus came to set you free from all kind of oppression (demonic, emotional, spiritual
…) including your mood swings.
Lift up your voice to the
Lord … Submit your mood to the Lordship of Jesus Christ … Pray that the Lord will
free you and … Celebrate your freedom today in the Name of Jesus Christ!
SO SHALL IT BE!
JESUS IS LORD!
JESUS IS LORD!
