"KILL ANGER BEFORE IT KILLS YOU"
*READ*
Proverbs 25:28 | He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls
*MY TESTIMONY*
Twelve years ago I have been hit by a very unpleasant experience : the death of my first baby girl. It was so unexpected that I cried as I have never done before my whole life. As I was crying, I was asking God, why God? why God? why God? Sometimes later, the Lord showed me the picture of Moses breaking the tables of the law. It was so clear that I asked God the meaning of it. The Lord told me clearly, "The same way Moses broke the tables because of his anger, the same way you lost your baby girl because of your anger. However, I will restore to you children only if you deal with the anger in you".
I was broken and humbled. I stopped crying the Lord for my late baby girl and started crying the Lord to deliver me from anger. Since then, I have been delivered for ever from the temptation of anger, of taking offence, of bitterness, of holding grudge etc. The Lord has granted and promoted me to a level of total rest, unbeatable peace and unbreakable joy which I enjoy till date. By his grace, he has restored me by giving me two wonderful boys for which I give him all the glory.
*REFLECT*
I am persuaded that someone reading this devotion today has experienced or is experiencing the same thing in his life.
Like Moses who broke the tables of the law because of anger, ask yourself,
- How many people have you ever killed because of anger ?
- How many things have you ever broken because of anger ?
- How many doors of blessing have you ever closed because of anger ?
- How many people went even to hell because of anger?
- How many people have you not wounded because of anger?
- How many people stopped praying and going to church because of anger?
- How many times didn't you take bad decision because of anger?
- How many times didn't you find yourself committing fornication to process your anger?
- How many times didn't you find yourself drinking beyond measure because you fail to master your anger?
- How many times didn't you curse yourself and curse others because of anger?
- How many times didn't you lose good people in your life because of anger?
*RESPOND IN PRAYER*
Before you ask God to restore what has been destroyed or to recover what has been lost, you have
1) to repent before God for your uncontrolled anger by considering how damaging it is for your life, (1 John 1:9/Ephesians 4:31/Colossians 3:8/Colossians 3:21)
2) to fast and cry to God to help you deal and overcome anger by crucifying your flesh and your pride; (Romans 6:6/Galatians 5:24/Matthew 17:21)
3) to talk to your pastor or spiritual leader to stand with you in prayer. (Proverbs 27:17)
