HOW LONG WILL I WAIT ?
In Joshua 18:3, we read this,
"Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the Lord God of your fathers hath given you?"
In this text, Joshua is blaming some tribes because they were not taking proper action to go and possess the land. They were waiting for God to give them the land while while God was waiting for them to go and possess what he had already given them.
Sometimes while we think that we are waiting upon the Lord, it is the Lord who is waiting for us. While we ask the Lord, "How long.willI wait ?", the Lord is asking us back, ", How long will I wait...?"
Brethren, please understand that waiting upon the Lord does not mean being idle or folding your arms. When you ask "How long will I wait?", the answer is simple "How long you will wait depends on who you wait and on how you wait".
Let me give you two examples :
Example 1 : God's original intention for the people of Israel was to cause them enter the promise land after 2 weeks (Read Deuteronomy 11:2). Unfortunately, because of their unbelief, their murmurings, their lack of understanding, their attitude, God saw that they were not ready for it. That's why instead of two weeks, they took 40 years. (Read Numbers 32:13)
Example 2 : When Daniel was praying, the Bible says that God answered him the very first day (Read Daniel 10:12). However, Daniel had to wait 20 more days because there was warfare in the air since the devil was standing to oppose, stop and hinder his access to God's answer (Read Daniel 10:13).
How did he wait? Was he idle? Was he folding his hands? No. He was waiting fighting, persisting, persevering, pressing on, praying and fasting until the Lord himself sent his archangel Michael to take away the devil out of the way.
PRAYERS
Prayer 1 | How long you will wait depends on how you wait. If you wait murmuring, complaining, doubting, questionning God, comparing yourself with others, sinning, you might stay where you are forever not because of God but because of yourself. PRAY TO DESTROY THOSE NEGATIVE ATTITUDES IN YOUR LIFE IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.
Pray with 1 Corinthians 10:10
Prayer 2 | Sometimes, God has already answered you but the devil is fighting and opposing your access to your blessing. Like Daniel you have to fight the good fight of faith. You have to be persistent. You have to persevere. You have to fast. You have to "pray until ...". PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO BE A TIRELESS PRAYER WARRIOR.
Pray with 1 Timothy 6:12
