DIVINE HELP ... DAY 1 ...JEHOVAH EZER

MONDAY 30 APRIL 2018
JEHOVAH EZER

Jehovah Ezer IS THE Hebrew words for “Lord our help”. In Psalm 33:20, the psalmist says,
Our soul waits for the Lord. He is our help and our shield”.
What does help mean ?

The English word help means to aid, to lend strength, to succor, to lend means of deliverance (as to help one in distress), to give assistance (from from Latin assistere to stand by, from sistere to cause to stand) or support (to carry the weight of, derived from Latin supportāre to bring from sub- = up + portāre =to carry).

Simply put, help means to do for someone what he or she cannot do for himself or herself.

Who is entitled to divine help? To who does God send his help ?

According to the text read today, it appears clearly that God helps those who wait for him. God does not help those who help themselves. By the way, nowhere in Scriptures such statement is supported. It is a carnal and demonic argument used by men to justify their evil deeds.

What is it to wait for the Lord?

To wait for the Lord is to be quiet in expectation. It is to be patient in hope. It is to be single in confidence. It is to say no to shortcut to get things done.

Someone once said, “Patience is not about how long you wait but about how quiet you are while waiting”

APPLICATION

Saul was asked by the prophet Samuel to wait for help from God in 7 days. But unfortunately, when he found himself under the pressure of time (because the prophet was not coming); the pressure of multitude (because everybody was deserting him and fleeing from him) and the pressure of adversity (because the Philistines were approaching to attack him), he gave up waiting for the Lord and start doing his own things until he lost his kingdom for ever

Question 1/ What do you do when you face such triple external pressure the way Saul faced?

Question 2/ Does your soul wait for the help of the Lord or do you open the door and try to face  it in your own strength without the help of the Lord?

CONCLUSION AND PRAYERS

The reason why we are starting this class today is because I have heard the Lord telling me

“My people, you have waited and relied on human help for long. Time has come where I, myself, will come to help you”

Isaiah 41:13 For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
