THE TRUTH ABOUT MY HEART ... DAY 6... THE GREEDY HEART

WEDNESDAY 07.03.2018
THE GREEDY HEART

What is GREED?

The Greek word pleonexia, originating from the Greek πλεονεξια, is the word that is most commonly translated as greed or covetousness in the New Testament.

Greed is the insatiable desire to have more money or possessions for self-gratification, while ignoring God and eternity.

Greed is the excessive love of material wealth. It is an inordinate love. The greedy person ends up having, but not enjoying. The greedy person does not, in practice, believe that God provides, or that we trust him alone for provision.

Greed is a strong and selfish desire to have more of something, most often money or power.

From a Christian perspective, the core definition of greed is that it is the obsession with accumulating material goods. A greedy person values material goods more than they value God.

Greed is an inappropriate attitude toward things of value, built on the mistaken judgment that my well-being is tied to the sum of my possessions.

HOW DO I KNOW THAT I HAVE A GREEDY HEART ?

1/ GREED REMOVES GOD FROM THE THRONE OF YOUR HEART AND AS THE PRIORITY OF YOUR LIFE AND REPLACE HIM WITH THE DESIRE OF HAVING MORE AND MORE THINGS

2/ GREED TAKES AWAY FROM YOUR HEART THE PEACE AND THE JOY OF CONTENTMENT AND OF THANKFULNESS WITH WHAT YOU HAVE

3/ GREED MAKES YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU WILL BE  MORE HAPPIER WHEN YOU WILL HAVE MORE

4/ GREED MAKES YOU NOT BELIEVING FULLY AND TOTALLY IN THE ABILITY OF GOD TO PROVIDE TO YOUR NEEDS

CONCLUSION AND PRAYER POINTS

= REPENT AND PRAY =

1/ Let God be first. Let God be the center. Let God be the priority of your life.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

2/ Learn to be grateful, content and happy with what you already have from God
1 Timothy 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
3/ Live being conscious that your happiness is in God not in things.
Luke 12:15 He told the people, "Be careful to guard yourselves from every kind of greed. Life is not about having a lot of material possessions."

4/ Live believing and trusting God's ability to provide all your needs.
Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
SO SHALL IT BE.
