HOLD ON!
As we
continue to meditate over the resurrection of Jesus Christ, I feel compelled by
the Spirit of God to point out some aspects of the resurrection of Jesus that will
build our faith and our hope.
1) The disciples did not expect the resurrection at all. Everyone
doubted it at first.
The
greatest skeptics to the resurrection of Jesus were first his own disciples.
Most of them did not believe in the resurrection before they saw Jesus living.
None of them expected Jesus to come back to life. Even when told, they refused
to believe it.
Matthew
28:17 says, “And when they saw Him, they worshiped HIm. But some were
doubtful.”
2) The stone was rolled away from the entrance to the tomb
NOT to let Jesus out. But to let the
disciples in.
The
angel said, “Come see the place where He lay.”
3) Jesus appeared only to believers. Not to Herod, Pilate or
the High Priest
The
most complete list of His appearances is the one Paul gave in I Corinthians
15. Just as the believers only were given “many infallible proofs” (Acts
1:3), only believers saw the risen Christ.
4) The gospel stands or falls on the
resurrection of Jesus.
Paul
says, “If Christ be not raised, your faith is worthless and you are still in
your sins” (I Corinthians 15:17). He adds, “If we have hoped in Christ in
this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied” (15:19).
This
is not an optional minor doctrine, friend. This is one of the load-bearing
columns, a pillar on which a thousand realities hang.
APPLICATION
AND PRAYERS
1st prophetic declaration
The
same way Jesus’ resurrection was a surprise for the disciples, I’d like to tell
someone today to get ready for divine surprises! Like Sarah, God will make you
laugh; everyone who hears will laugh with you. Those who expect you to remain
in the grave (of poverty, of misery, of bareness, etc.) will be shocked to hear
about your resurrection. The Lord will wipe away every tear from your
eyes. The Lord will give you a garment of praise for a spirit of
heaviness. JUST HOLD ON!
2nd
prophetic declaration
The same way no door could hold Jesus Christ
in the grave, I’d like to tell someone today again the season of your
breakthrough has finally come. All Joseph had was a promise, but that promise
brought him out of the pit, out of the prison, and finally into
the palace. Do you have a promise from the Lord? JUST HOLD ON!
