⏩ COVENANT OF PREVAILING PRAYER ⏪ KEY 24 "FEAR GOD"

SCRIPTURE
Psalms 145:19 "He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them."
Fearing God is among other keys vital for prevailing in prayer.
As we have read in our text today, it is clear that God does not promise to grant the desire of the irreligious, the worldly, or the wicked. It would be neither kind nor right to do so. But He pledges His word to grant the desire of the God-fearing. Why?
1) Because those who fear Him are entitled to be his friends

"The secret of the LORD is with them that fear Him, and He will show them His covenant” (Psalms 25:14).

“The LORD said, "I shouldn’t hide what I am going to do from Abraham” (Genesis 18:17).

"Abraham … was called the friend of God” (James 2:23).

“I don’t call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn’t know what his master is doing. But I’ve called you friends because I’ve made known to you everything that I’ve heard from my Father” (John 15:15).

“I am a friend to everyone who fears you and to everyone who follows your guiding principles” (Psalms 119:63).

2. Because fearing God pleases God

"In every nation he that feareth Him and worketh righteousness is accepted by Him” (Acts 10:35).
HOW DO I KNOW IF I FEAR GOD?
1.      Consider your attitude toward the Word of God : do you take the word of God seriously? do you obey what the Word of the Lord tells you?
"Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of His Servant, that walketh in darkness and hath no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God” (Isaiah 50:10).
“For all those things hath Mine hand made, and all those things have been," saith the LORD. "But to this man will I look: even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at My word” (Isaiah 66:2).
2.      Consider your attitude toward evil, sin, iniquity
“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the froward mouth do I hate” (Proverbs 8:13)
“You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions anointing you with the oil of gladness” (Hebrews 1:9).
a)      When no one sees you (in your bedroom, in your washroom,
“The man whose desire is for the wife of another is waiting for the evening, saying, No eye will see me; and he puts a cover on his face. And in the night the thief goes about” (Job 24:15 BBE);
“He says in his heart, God has no memory of me: his face is turned away; he will never see it” (Psalms 10:11 BBE).
b)     When you are under pressure (trial, adversity, misfortune,…)

His wife asked him, "Are you still holding on to your principles? Curse God and die!" He said to her, "You’re talking like a godless fool. We accept the good that God gives us. Shouldn’t we also accept the bad?" Through all this Job’s lips did not utter one sinful word (Job 2:9-10).

MY PRAYER TODAY
As you pray and expect the Lord to answer your prayers, check your life and ask yourselves :
  • are you the friend of God?
  • do you please God?
  • what is your attitude toward the Word of God?
  • what is your attitude toward sin?
MY PRAYER FOR SOMEONE TODAY IS

LORD, BY YOUR SPIRIT, ENDOW SOMEONE WITH THE FEAR OF GOD THAT WILL CULMINATE TO THE FULFILMENT OF THE DESIRES OF THEIR HEART

SO SHALL IT BE!
JESUS IS LORD!
