FIGHT DISCOURAGEMENT

SCRIPTURE

Isaiah 40:30-31 "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

KEY STATEMENT

Everyone tends to feel discouraged or depressed for one reason or another. For centuries, people have been plagued by the virus of discouragement. Those who failed to deal with it properly ended up stagnating in life. Those who dealt with it in a proper way paved their way to scale greater heights in life.

IN 2018, IF YOU WILL HAVE SUCCESS, FIGHT WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT DISCOURAGEMENT.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE DISCOURAGED?

To be discouraged is to feel less motivated, confident or optimistic.

Proverbs 12:25 “Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.”

HOW DO I KNOW I'M DISCOURAGED?

1st symptom : When I'm discouraged, "I feel weighed down"

Proverbs 12:25 "A person’s anxiety will weigh him down, but an encouraging word makes him joyful."

2nd symptom : When I'm discouraged, I become nervous with or without reason. I become resentful and broken.

Colossians 3:21 "Fathers, provoke not your children [to anger], lest they be discouraged."

3rd symptom When I'm discouraged I tend to quit, to give up.

Galatians 6:9 "Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

4th symptom : When I'm discouraged I tend to go back to the things I've vomited yesterday.

Proverbs 26:11 "As a dog goes back to its vomit, so a fool repeats his stupidity."

WHAT CAUSES DISCOURAGEMENT?

1st cause : Failure

Sometimes, the best laid plans fall apart, the project collapses, the deal falls through, one shows up to the event.

How do you react? Do you give in to self-pity? Do you blame others? As one man said, "Just when I think I can makes ends meet --somebody moves the ends! That's discouraging!

2nd cause : Fatigue

Fatigue is not only physical. It can also be emotional, psychological, or even spiritual.

When you’re physically or emotionally exhausted, you’re a prime candidate to be infected with discouragement. Your defenses are lowered and things can seem bleaker than they really are. This often occurs when you’re halfway through a major project and you get tired.

It is normal to get tired. Jesus was physically tired. But the good thing is to know how to be refreshed, to make a new start.

3rd cause : Frustration

Frustration is the feeling of being upset, annoyed or disappointed, especially because of inability to change or achieve something.

WHAT'S THE CURE FOR DISCOURAGEMENT?

1st cure : WAIT UPON THE LORD

Isaiah 40:30-31 "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

A WORD FOR YOU : When tiredness comes, there's a message behind: stop to rely on your strength and start to rely on the strength from above. Stop to rely on the natural. Start to rely on the supernatural. This is the first cure.

2nd cure : ENCOURAGE YOURSELF IN THE LORD

1 Samuel 30:6 "David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God."

A WORD FOR YOU : Don't wait to be encouraged from outside. Encourage yourself from inside. David encouraged himself

3rd cure : KEEP ON WELL DOING

Galatians 6:9 "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

A WORD FOR YOU : Keep in mind your harvest. There will be a harvest for what you do in the house of the Lord. There will be a harvest for what you do at home. There will be a harvest for waking up every morning to be in the presence of God. There will be a harvest for reading the Bible everyday.

4th cure : KEEP THE END IN MIND

Habakkuk 2:3 "For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry."

A WORD FOR YOU : Sometimes discouragement comes when what we expect from God is slow in coming. You expect the salvation of your family but there's no result until now. God says to you today: IT WILL CERTAINLY COME. IT WILL NOT BE KEPT BACK.
