MIRACLE 18 : JESUS HEALS PETER'S MOTHER-IN-LAW
TEXTS : Matthew 8:14-15; Mark 1:29-31; Luke 4:38-39
Today's miracle is about Jesus Christ healing Peter's mother in law who was sick of a fever.
WHAT ARE THE LESSONS FROM THIS TEXT?
Nothing much is said about this woman apart from three major facts :
1st fact : SHE WAS A PEACEABLE AND PEACEFUL WOMAN
I believe if Peter was living with his mother-in-law, probably she was a peaceable and peaceful woman. I believe also that his wife was a good wife.
You know what? One thing is to be married, another thing is to be married to a good partner.
Don't you see how beautiful it is to notice that how well you relate with others can also be a platform to your own miracle?
The Bible says clearly in Hebrews 12:14
"Follow peace with all men , and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord"
Some questions are being asked to us today concerning our relationship with others around us :
How is your relationship with others ? Are you a peaceable husband? wife? child? pastor? employee? employer? citizen? mother-in-law? father-in-law?daughter-in-law?
2nd fact : SHE WAS A LOVING AND CARING WOMAN MINISTERING TO OTHERS' NEEDS.
I notice that she was not living with her son-in-law as a liability but as an asset. She was not living there as a burden to carry but as a burden carrier.
To prove it, we see how immediately after her healing, she ministered unto them. In Mark 1:31, the Bible says,
"And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them."
Some questions are being asked to us today concerning our expectation from the Lord :
Why are you expecting a miracle from the Lord ? Why do you pray that the Lord blesses your life? Do you have in your heart the desire to serve the Lord with your substances? Your health? Your wealth? Your time ? What in your life can motivate the Lord to release his blessing, miracle and grace over you?
3rd fact : JESUS HEALED HER BY TOUCHING HER HAND
Why did Jesus touch the hand?
It was with that hand that she was ministering to the needs of others.
It was with that hand that she was helping others.
It was with that hand that she was feeding the hungry.
It was with that hand that she was watering the thirsty.
It was with that hand that she was bringing relief to the people around her.
It was with that hand that she was bringing joy to the hopeless and the helpless.
And because that hand could no longer be available to meet others' needs, Jesus came to touch it thereby causing it to be useful again.
TODAY, WE WILL MAKE PROPHETIC PRAYERS FOR OUR HANDS. WE WILL PRAY THAT THE SAME HAND THAT TOUCHED THE HAND OF THE PETER'S MOTHER-IN-LAW WILL TOUCH AND RESTORE OUR HANDS SO THAT THEY WILL BE USEFUL AGAIN TO SERVE HIM AND SERVE THE WELFARE OF OTHERS.
TODAY, WE WILL MAKE PROPHETIC PRAYERS FOR OUR HANDS. WE WILL PRAY THAT THE SAME HAND THAT TOUCHED THE HAND OF THE PETER'S MOTHER-IN-LAW WILL TOUCH AND RESTORE OUR HANDS SO THAT THEY WILL BE USEFUL AGAIN TO SERVE HIM AND SERVE THE WELFARE OF OTHERS.
PRAY FOR THE HAND OF THE LORD TO TOUCH YOUR HAND
PRAYER 1 - Pray that the Lord may prosper all the works of your hand as he did for Joseph IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!
Read and pray with Genesis 39:3 "And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand."
PRAYER 2 - Pray that the Lord makes you find grace in the sight of men so that supernatural transfer may take place from their hands to yours as he did for Joseph IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!
Read and pray with Genesis 39:4 "And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and ALL THAT HE HAD HE PUT INTO HIS HAND."
PRAYER 3 - Pray for a heart and a lifestyle of integrity because transfer will take place into your hand if you live a life of integrity as Joseph lived.
Read and pray with Genesis 39:6 "And HE LEFT ALL THAT HE HAD IN JOSEPH'S HAND; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured."
PRAYER 4 - Pray for the grace of diligence in your endeavours because transfer will take place into your hand if your hands are diligent like Joseph.
Read and pray with Genesis 39:22 "And the keeper of the prison COMMITTED TO JOSEPH'S HAND all the prisoners that were in the prison; and whatsoever they did there, he was the doer of it."
PRAYER 5 - Pray for the reality of God's presence in your life because transfer will take place in your hand if you are careful to keep and treasure the presence of God in your life like Joseph.
Read and pray with Genesis 39:23 "The keeper of the prison looked not to any thing that was under his hand; because the LORD was with him, and that which he did, the LORD made it to prosper."
PRAYER 6 - Pray to be filled with wisdom and pray the Lord to use you to solve others' problems because transfer will take place in your hand if being a wisdom-filled man/woman you are committed to solve mankind's problems like Joseph.
Read and pray with Genesis 41:42 "And PHARAOH TOOK OFF HIS RING FROM HIS HAND, AND PUT IT UPON JOSEPH'S HAND, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
IN JESUS PRECIOUS NAME !
JESUS IS LORD !
