To favor means to give special regard to; to
treat with goodwill; to show exceptional kindness to someone. Sometimes, it
means to show extra kindness in comparison to the treatment of others; that is,
preferential treatment.
Joseph was favoured in the sight of the keeper of the prison and was granted a different treatment among other prisoners.
Genesis 39:2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
Genesis 39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
In Exodus, when Israel was about to get out of Egypt, the Egyptians favoured them by giving them everything they were requesting
Exodus 3:21 And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. And it shall come to pass that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty,
Exodus 11:3 And the LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt in the sight of Pharaoh’s servants and in the sight of the people.
In Esther 2:17, we see Esther receiving royal favor above other other virgins,
"And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti."
In Daniel 1:9, we see Daniel and his companions being differently treated among their peers because of God's favor upon them
"Now God had brought Daniel into favour and tender love with the prince of the eunuchs."
