⏩ COVENANT MONTH OF PREVAILING PRAYER ⏪ KEY 8 "MAKE DECREES"

I. INTRODUCTION

Someone once said "Only 5% of people on the earth make things happen. 25% watch things happen. 70% don't even know things are happening"

In the realm of faith, we don't wait until something happens. We decree it with our mouth to make it happen because until we decree with our mouth nothing will ever be established in our life.
IT IS WRITTEN in Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
II. WHAT IS THE DECREE? WHAT IS TO DECREE?

A decree is defined as an issue order for something to happen…

To decree is to make an official order, pronouncement, or legal ruling to effect something

To decree is also to issue an order, to command, to declare,  to make an authoritative command, to mandate, to prescribe, to proclaim, to pronounce, to publish an order, to rule.

III. HAMAN'S DECREE IS NOT FINAL. STOP MOURNING OVER IT!

In the Old Testament book of Esther we read how Satan through Haman tried to destroy God's people (the Jews). Haman hated Mordecai (a Jew) because Mordecai DIDN'T bow down to him like everybody else did.

Out of his proud, hateful and revengeful heart, Haman made a decree to kill all the Jews living in the land of Persia. Because of the evil decree, the Bible says in Esther 4:3
"And in every province, whithersoever  the king's commandment and his decree  came , there was great mourning  among the Jews,  and fasting,  and weeping,  and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes."
From this text, we see clearly how even before the decree of death is executed, the people started mourning, weeping and wailing. Why were they weeping?

They were weeping for two reasons :
1st reason : The decree was painted with the dark color of death. So the only picture they could see from it was death, nothing else;
2nd reason : They knew that according to the law of the Medes and Persians, no decree or statute the king makes can be changed, repealed or reversed."
IV. AT YOUR PRAYER ALTAR YOU HAVE THE POWER TO DECREE TO REVERSE THE IRREVERSIBLE

While the people were mourning, weeping and crying, Esther had a different attitude and a different approach because she knew that prayer has the power to change the unchangeable, to repeal the unrepealable and to reverse the irreversibleHere is what she says:
"Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which [is] not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish." (Esther 4:16)
After the 3 days of prayer and fasting, dramatic turn arounds took place :

1) In Esther 3:2, Esther found favor in the sight of the King who broke his own law by holding out to her the golden sceptre.

2) In Esther 6:1, the Lord caused a sleepless night to the King who forced Haman to reward Mordecai publicly

3) In Esther 7:10, Haman was hanged on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai.

4) In Esther 8:1, the house of Haman changed hand and was given to Mordecai.

5) In Esther 8:2, the king's ring changed hand and was given to Mordecai.

6) In Esther 8:8, the king allowed Esther and Mordecai to write a new decree reversing, cancelling and overriding the previous wrote by Haman

7) In Esther 8:17, people's mourning was turned into celebration, their tears were turned into gladness and their weeping was turned into feast.

Now let me ask you today those questions:
  • Why are you crying?
  • What makes you crying and shedding tears?
  • What is the decree that makes you hopeless, discouraged, disappointed and depressed ?
  • What are you facing right now and you think is irreversible ?
  • Is there any medical report? Is there any judicial report ? What is that report? Who is behind that report?
Let me ask you more questions:
  • Do you believe that that report is reversible at the prayer altar?
  • Are you ready like Esther to change your attitude and approach by engaging prayer to reverse what seems irreversible for you?
  • Are you ready like Mordecai to write by faith new decrees that will override, cancel and reverse the old decree of death in your life?
  • If that is your faith, let us engage prayer.
