SCRIPTURE
1 Chronicles 4:9-10 And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. 10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.KEY STATEMENT
Jabez was born and grew in an environment of much pain and affliction. That is why his mother called him Jabez. Despite the darkness of his past, Jabez refused to allow the pain and affliction of his past to hinder the glory and the beauty of his future. The same way the affliction of the Egyptians never stopped the multiplication of the Jews, the same way don't allow today's affliction to stop your advancement.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT JABEZ
1st thing : He was called Jabez by his mother because he was born with sorrow
We all know that childbirth always happens with pain according to the divine decree to Eve in Genesis 3:16
"Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire [shall be] to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee."Even Jesus says in John 16:21
"A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world."
What happened to Jabez's mother and caused her to experience such sorrow to the point she attached sorrow to the name of her son? The Bible is silent and gives no indication or light about it.
A WORD FOR YOU : Don't allow the circumstances of your birth to define your life.
- Moses was once a baby in a box but later became the deliverer of the people of Israel
- Jesus was born in a manger but later became the Savior of the whole world.
- HOLD ON !!! THERE IS HOPE FOR YOU !!!
2nd thing : Nothing is said about his father. Only his mother is mentionned. It looks like Jabez was brought up by a single mother.
Did the father die when she was pregnant? Did the father abandon her and denied the pregnancy? Did the father left her to go to another woman?
However, the fact that the father is not mentionned at his birth indicates that Jabez was born without any inheritance.
What happened to his father and his inheritance? Was it squandered or lost? Once more, the Bible is silent and gives no information about it.
A WORD FOR YOU : Growing up with both parents is healthy for the growth of a child but it does not necesseraly define his exploit and success in life.

- Samson grew up with both parents but he ended up his life with his eyes plucked out and killed himself along with the Philistines because of his own bad choices.
- Esau grew up with both parents but he messed up his life by making wrong choices and taking wrong steps. He ended up his life in bitterness.
- Jabez grew up with his mother but he is displayed in the Bible as an example of exploit and success.
3) Jabez was from the tribe of Judah and was listed among honorable people of the tribe.
In 1 Chronicles 4:9, the Bible says that "Jabez was more honorable than his brothers..."
Where did Jabez get his honour from? Once again, the Bible says nothing.
A WORD FOR YOU : Your worth is determined by your work. Just because you belong to a winning team or a renown family does not define your worth. Jabez worked personnally at his worth and he ended up to be more honorable than his brothers.
- Judas Iscariot belonged to the best of all the teams in the whole world but he ended up hanged on a tree.
- The whole congregation of Israel who saw the signs and wonders from the Lord failed to see the promise land.
4) Though Jabez never knew his father, he knew to connect through prayer to his Heavenly Father who is the God of Israel. Through prayer,
- the power of curse was broken and he was blessed,
- the plague of limitation was broken and he was enlarged,
- the chain of powerlessness was broken and he was empowered
- the cycle of affliction was broken and he was pain free and affliction free

- Prayer breaks curse and releases blessing
- Prayer breaks limitation and releases enlargement
- Prayer breaks pwerlessness and releases power
- Prayer breaks evil cycle and releases divine cycle
PROPHETIC DECLARATIONS AND PRAYERS

OF ISRAEL.

FINANCIAL LIMITATION, HE KNEW THAT THROUGH PRAYER HIS HEAVENLY FATHER IS ABLE

GENERATION, HE KNEW THAT THROUGH PRAYER HIS HEAVENLY FATHER IS ABLE TO STRETCH
