PRAYER ALTAR AND ANGELIC MINISTRY
Throughout Scriptures, it appears clearly a connection between the prayer altar and the ministry of angels :
- When Manoach was offering a sacrifice on the altar, the angel of the Lord appeared to him and ascended to heaven from the altar
Judges 13:20 "For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground."
- When Zechariah was offering a sacrifice on the incense altar, the angel of the Lord appeared to him to announce the release of the fruit of their womb
Luke 1:11 And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.
- When Jesus was praying in the garden, an angel appeared unto him to strengthen him
Luke 22:41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, . . . V 43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
- When Peter was in prison, the Bible mentions that the Church was praying instantly for him. In response to their instant prayer, God sent an angel straight to Peter in prison and led him out.
Acts 12:5 Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him… [12:7] And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon [him], and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from [his] hands.
- IN the Book of Revelation, multiple angelic activies are directly connected to the altar in heaven
Revelation 8:3 Another angel came with a gold incense burner and stood at the altar ...
Revelation 8:5 The angel took the incense burner ...
Revelation 9:13 When the sixth angel blew his trumpet, I heard a voice from the four horns of the gold altar in front of God.
Revelation 14:18 Yet another angel came from the altar with authority over fire. This angel called out in a loud voice to the angel with the sharp sickle, "Swing your sickle, and gather the bunches of grapes from the vine of the earth, because those grapes are ripe."
WHAT THE ANGELIC MINISTRY IS ALL ABOUT?
- The ministry of the angels is well defined in the Bible:
- "They are spirits sent to serve those who are going to receive salvation." (Hebrews 1:14)
- They are appointed by God to watch over the believers (Psalm 91:11)
- They are appointed by God to guide the believers and shows them the way (Acts 8)
- They are appointed by God to protect the believers (Daniel 6:21-22)
- They are appointed by God to unveil to the believers the hidden things (mysteries or secrets) of God (Daniel 9:21-22)
3 THINGS TO DO AT YOUR PRAYER ALTAR TODAY
1) ANGELS MINISTER TO US WHEN OUR MOUTH CONFESSES AND PROCLAIMS THE WORD OF GOD
"Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, HEARKENING UNTO THE VOICE OF HIS WORD." (Psalm 103:20 KJV)
2) ANGELS MINISTER TO US WHEN WE ENGAGE PRAYER ON OUR ALTAR BOTH PERSONALLY AND CORPORATELY AS THE BODY OF CHRIST
In Acts 12:5, the Bible says that the church in Jerusalem prayed for Peter when he was in prison. By their prayer, the angelic ministration was made available to deliver Peter out of prison.
3) ANGELS MINISTER TO US WHEN WE ARE ON DUTY SERVING GOD AND THE INTERESTS OF HIS KINGDOM
Luke 1:38 "And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her."
