TODAY IS DAY 26 .. Jesus Heals Blind Bartimaeus –
Reading : Mark 10:46-52
INTRODUCTION
The story of Bartimaeus is to be contextualized in a specific moment of
Jesus’ life. It occurred within a week of his crucifixion.
No enemy could have
stopped Christ on that road, no opposition could have stopped him, not even
Peter. There was noise enough on the road, the tramp of many feet, the clatter
of many eager tongues, the opposition of discouragers, but the voice of one poor
blind beggar sitting in the dust there by the roadside found its way through
all the noise to Christ’s ears and stopped him. It is written in Mark 10:49, “Jesus stopped …”
In today's miracle, Bartimaeus teaches us 4 THINGS PERSISTENCE CAN DO TO PAVE THE WAY TO THE SUPERNATURAL :
1) "Persistence breaks resistance";
2) "Persistence stops the Master";
3) "Persistence draws the attention of the Master";
4) "Persistence convinces the Master to release the miracle".
PRAYER GUIDELINES
POINT 1 Bartimaeus was physically sightless but spiritually sensitive to
know that this opportunity was the very last to hold on to, otherwise he would lose it and remain at the same spot forever.
Question/ Are you spiritually sensitive to see and seize the opportunities the Lord
puts on your way for your lifetime change of story? Do you have the knowledge
of times and seasons? Do you know how to make the most of the opportunities?
It is written in Luke 19:44 "... thou knewest not the time of thy visitation."
PRAY TO BE SPIRITUALLY SENSITIVE
It is written in Luke 19:44 "... thou knewest not the time of thy visitation."
Father, the same way Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was passing by and sensed in his spirit that it was his time of visitation, the same way I ask you to help me to be spiritually sensitive so that I may know ny time and make the most of it in the name of Jesus Christ.
PRAY FOR THE UNDERSTANDING OF TIMES AND SEASONS ACCORDING TO THE ORDER OF THE SONS OF ISSACHAR
It is written in 1 Chronicles 12:32 "The children of Issachar, [which were men] that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do ..."
Father, I ask the Spirit of Truth to lead and guide me with discernment every step of the way so that I become like the children of Issachar who were able to understand the times and to know what to do.
POINT 2 Bartimaeus was positioned in the roadside because he was socially
voiceless.
People who sit in the roadside have no voice in the affairs of the city
simply because their hands are outstretched not to solve problems but to beg
solutions.
Question/ Does your voice count in the land? Are you a problem solver or
a solution beggar? Are you a beggar or are you a giver? Are your hands
outstretched to give or to receive? Where are you seated in the society? In the
roadside observing and criticizing others who prosper?
It is written in Luke 8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
PRAY AND REFUSE TO STAY IN THE ROADSIDE
It is written in Luke 8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
Father, from henceforth, I refuse to stay and sit in the roadside.
I refuse to be an observer, a criticizer and a lesson giver.
I refuse to be in a place where the devil steals the seed of your Word out of my heart and leaves me empty and fruitless.
I refuse to watch others moving forward while I stay in the same spot.
I refuse to live a begging life.
I refuse to be voiceless in the land.
Help me O Lord and change my position.
Help me O Lord and make me a problem solver.
Help me O Lord and help me to be actively engaged in changing my world
In the name of Jesus
POINT 3 Bartimaeus is portrayed in Mark
10:46 as “a blind beggar”
From Scriptures, beggary is displayed as the consequence of blindness, of impotence and of terminal disease (Read Mark 10:46; Luke 16:19-20 and Acts 3:2)
Question/ What is that blindness, impotence or terminal disease that
grounds your life to mediocrity, poorness, poverty, misery, shortage and scarcity?
PRAY TO SAY NO TO THE BEGGING MENTALITY AND LIFESTYLE
It is written in Acts 20:35 “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
It is written in Psalms 37:25 “I have been young, and [now] am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.”
It is written in Psalms 59:15 “Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.”
Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ,
I confess that I will never beg bread, food, money, clothe or water because you are too faithful to forsake me and abandon me.
I confess that I will not live on the earth as a forsaken man / woman because on the cross, Jesus Christ was forsaken so that I can be remembered.
I confess that your blessing over my life will affect not only my generation but also generations after me so that none of my sons and daughters will ever live as a beggar.
LET IT BE SO IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST
POINT 4 Though his sight was taken away from him, Bartimaeus did not
allow anyone to take away his voice. For protecting his voice, he recovered his sight.
Despite the opposition and the discouragement of the multitude, he was spiritually
violent and persistent to make his voice count despite the rejection and the
opposition of the crowd.
Indeed, his persistence paid because not only did he manage to stop Jesus but also he managed to turn his discouragers into encouragers.
PRAY FOR DIVINE VENGEANCE AGAINST THE OPPOSING FORCES OF DARKNESS RESISTING YOUR BREAKTHROUGH
IT is written in Mark 10:48-49 “The people told him to be quiet. But he shouted even louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" Jesus stopped and said, "Call him!" They called the blind man and told him, "Cheer up! Get up! He’s calling you."
Father, by the authority and the power of the supreme sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, I pray that you visit with judgment and vengeance any power of darkness rising to contend, to fight, to oppose and to resist my visitation, my breakthrough and my blessing in Jesus Name.
POINT 5 WHAT DO YOU WANT JESUS TO DO FOR YOU ?
It is written in 2 Kings 6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain [was] full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
