WHO IS JESUS CHRIST? ... DAY 25... WAS JESUS OMNISCIENT?

TUESDAY 27.02.2018
WAS JESUS OMNISCIENT?

Jesus was not a common man. During his earthly ministry, Jesus was able to read thoughts, feelings, affections, desires. Deception has no covering from Him; hypocrisy no mask He cannot pierce. Judas may deceive the twelve, he cannot deceive the Lord.

Paul points out the divinity of Christ saying,
"For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily" (Colossians 2:9).

THE EVIDENCES OF JESUS'OMNISCIENCE

1st evidence : There are times when Jesus knew what was happening when he wasn't anywhere close, such as the condition of Lazarus.
"Then Jesus said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead"" (John 11:14). Jesus was about four days away from Lazarus.

2nd evidence : Jesus also demonstrated knowledge of the past when he spoke to the woman at the well.
"Jesus said to her, "Go, call your husband, and come here." The woman answered and said, "I have no husband." Jesus said to her, "You have well said, 'I have no husband,' for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly"" (John 4:16-18).

3rd evidence : Jesus knew accurately what was happening in the heart of men.
"But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man" (John 2:24-25)

4th evidence : The disciples testified that Jesus knew “all things”
"Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God." (John 16:30)

5th evidence : Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." (John 21:17)

6th evidence : In John 3:1-4 Jesus knew what the Pharisees and scribes were thinking.

7th evidence : Jesus knew people’s thoughts (Mark 2:8),

8th evidence : Jesus was able to distinguish true believers from non-believers. He knew “from the beginning” Judas would betray Him (John 6:64),

CONCLUSION

In 1 John 3:20, it is clearly written that " ... GOD knows everything."

What does it imply for us?
  • We can trust Him for everything
  • We can rely on Him for everything
  • It is useless to think and believe that we can run away from him or hide anything from him
  • It is useless, abominable and an insult in the eyes of God to consult fortune tellers to know things concerning our future
SO SHALL IT BE!
JESUS IS LORD!
